Adding a time deadline to a task

It would be great if we could add a start and finish time to a task that might need completing by a certain time of the day. At the moment we can only set the duration for that task but not the start time which makes daily and small important tasks hard to manage/oversee

This gets an upvote from me. It would be great to have time dependencies, especially when a project is close to cut-off / deadline and we need to track things by the hour.

We would REALLY, really benefit from being able to set deadlines.

We use 'task duration' to set an arbitrary 'target' period to work on a task, but a deadline is a very different thing - it may be imposed on us externally and be something we can't simply 'push back'.

I actually don't even know how Wrike expects people to work with deadlines currently!?

I can't believe Wrike doesn't permit the user to add a time for the task to be done. We are using this for an event team and everything is based around what time a task needs to be done. Please implement ASAP.

Yes please! Having the ability to add a time and date as a deadline would be great. Often times we have multiple tasks due on the same day and they are all predecessors of each other. It is time-consuming to follow that one task in a day to ensure it gets done.

We need this too. We track almost all of our digital marketing tasks in Wrike but can't bring our social media planning on board because we need each task deadline to include a time and additionally need it to pop up a notification at that time. For example, say I want to schedule a Facebook post about this week's blog. Currently we have to do this in Outlook so we get the reminder ... hey, it's noon it's time to post that.

We would like to do it in Wrike so that any member of the team can pick up the posting responsibility if the social media person is out. We also would love to be able to pull reporting on the posts.

Sprout is great for scheduling, but you can't schedule a Facebook boost. So at 1 p.m. I need that tickler to log into Facebook and boost my post.

Please consider adding this feature. I am constantly looking for a solution to this problem.

This would be really great, Asana has this and I found it very useful. Missing it since I switched to Wrike.

I'd like to throw in another vote for a Deadline feature.

We produce adverts sometimes up to 3 months in advance. I can schedule a time for the designer to work on something, but its actual submission can't be listed separately. We've had a few instances where the staff member has completed their design work, ticked the task as done, then the work has sat idle until the deadline comes along.

I vote for this option as well. I am surprised it isn't already a feature...

Adding a time for when a task needs to be completed will be really helpful. Having it go in the assignee's Outlook calendar would be even better.

Hi again, everyone! Thanks a lot for your continued input here!

I've checked with the team and here's what I can share with you on the subject: currently, our Product team aren't planning to add time deadlines or reminders in the nearest future. I totally understand the demand here. In fact, there's another very popular Product Feedback thread very similar to this one: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000147889--Status-Not-planned-Due-date-time. As you can see, although it's extremely popular, it has the "Not Planned" status currently. Here's what the Product team shared on the subject:

"Implementing due time in tasks is a significant feature design and implementation effort. It is not as easy as adding just one more task attribute into a task view. Wrike has many different views and a lot of built-in business logic that drives how task dates behave and all of this will have to be considered before the team can make task scheduling model support task due time. The team believes that our users appreciate new features as much as they appreciate the consistency of UX and overall product quality. Thus adding a half baked way to support task due dates is not a trade-off they are ready to make. "

The Product team will continue monitoring how usage patterns of our customers evolve, if they continue to drive towards more granular management of task effort, time tracking and thus warrant making our task scheduling support task due time as well.

I totally understand this doesn't provide a solution yet, but I at least wanted to shed more light on the background of this. Of course, our team would be happy to implement a lot of the suggestions from this forum, but they have to prioritize.

I'm keeping a very close eye on both suggestions and I'll let you know once I have any updates.

Thank you again for your input and support for the suggestion!

I hope this is a task that will be prioritized soon, as daily time deadlines are also a crucial part of time management--one that is worth the effort. In fact, I have so many time oriented tasks, and I just started using the software, that it makes me unsure if this is the right product for me.

This gets an upvote from me as well - this will be a great feature in a world where certain marketing functions - like the facebook posts mentioned - needs to be scheduled for a specific time.

Upvote - please look at adding this - our events are scheduled around due times, not just due days.  Thanks

Major Upvote to this one!

My team and company are looking at other products due to the lack of time based deadlines and tasks. I understand based off of previous feedback that this is a rather large undertaking for the dev. team, but it looks to me like this would be a nonstarter for most modern companies choosing their software solutions as well as a general relevance issue and therefore should be a TOP priority for the dev team. It may take time for those of us currently using Wrike to jump ship without this feature, but it is certainly losing you potential customers and eventually market share.

Adding my voice to the mix. Our projects are measured in days, not weeks or months, so time deadlines are important.

TBH, I'm surprised this thread and the calendar one are still rumbling on. UI improvements are welcome but I can't be the only one (perhaps I am) that thinks calendar integration is fundamental for a project and task management tool.

Time deadline + calendar integration = a very powerful tool.

Hi everyone, thank you for adding your thoughts and support here, it's much appreciated 🙌🏼

There is a similar thread on Due-Dates, which just changed status from "Not planned" to "Investigating". The team has just started their research on potential approaches for making time indication in Wrike and we'll be updating that post with more information in the upcoming weeks.

I would also like to suggest marking this post as a duplicate thread and redirect the discussion to the post above. Please let me know if you agree with this idea and I'll update the thread.

Thank you again for your contributions 🙋🏻‍♀️

Lisa So they did not do anything yet on this?

I mean its a basic request as some tasks for example Telephone changes require setup in the morning and remove in the evening. Its simply a very very useful option to increase functionality and narrowing down the actual due time of a task.
