True Custom Templates
I'd like to suggest a product improvement. As we have been told, creating custom templates for our projects and tasks is actually not a template at all. It's a workaround. It's really only a generic project with or without dependencies, assignments, dates, etc. — then when duplicated and renamed appropriately, becomes a new project with tasks. This is not wizard or form driven, and therefore a much more tedious and much less effective solution than the Wrike Templates:
Wrike Templates: Although these true wizard/form-driven templates are a nice place to get started, they are not customizable and save-able for repeated use.
My Custom Templates: I'd like to suggest using the Wrike Templates configuration for CUSTOM templates that my company can create with all of our own specific tasks, dependencies, etc. and save in this same place, but in our own custom categories.
This would be a HUGE improvement to how new projects are created and assigned. Makes for a cleaner interface and prevents mistakes like forgetting to change names, making assignments, or skipping steps.
I realize that this may have already been suggested, but I can assure you that there are more who would hope for or welcome this than have taken the time to suggest it or contact Wrike about it.
It seems to me that you've already done a majority of the work in creating a Wrike Templates solution. So just make it customizable.
Thanks for the great product... and for always trying to make it better!
Following His Lead,
Shawn...
I totally agree and know that it would benefit our process greatly!
I agree with this suggestion. It would benefit our company's ability to get things done in a more timely fashion.
Great suggestion! I think this would make it a lot easier to set up new projects.
Same for me! +1 on this.
+1 For sure!
Lets get it done.
Nice Post Shaun!
@all, Blueprints is now available in Labs, it's the perfect time to provide your feedback (like the idea in this post) there for our Product team to review 👍
I really like the idea of custom and pre-existing templates available in Wizard form Shawn, thank you for sharing. I've passed this thread to the Product Team for review while Blueprints are still in Labs.
@Stephen,
Thanks for the response! I would love to be a part of the solution for this. Although Blueprints have been an improvement on the whole generic template duplication thing, they are still not the same wizard-driven solution (like Wrike Templates) that your users are wanting. Blueprints is not much more than the template duplication thing (which is a horrible workaround).
Giving the existing Wrike Templates feature an upgrade that allows users to create true, custom, wizard-driven, and saveable templates would be the most obvious and ultimate solution for what users in the real world need every day.
We have several Blueprint templates that we use every day. They have 10-20 tasks or more, have dependencies, instructions, notes, assignments, etc. that are all a part of our custom workflow as well as our custom PROJECT Statuses.
This just doesn't seem like a very big leap from where the Wrike Templates are right now.
Thanks for your feedback, Shawn - it would be great to hear more about this over here where our team will be reviewing insights as this feature sits in Labs and other customers are discussing Blueprints.
I can leave this thread open but please let me know if you'd like to close this thread for now - this can help in terms of keep feedback in one place for the Product team.
Any news on this?
