"Ready for you" filter
In our organization, we would love to be able to have a filter that automatically shows us when something is ready for the next person to start working on their task, aside from the notification sent to that person's inbox. To mitigate not having a filter that shows when someone can start working on their task, we have set up everyone's dashboards to have a widget that shows the tasks that are "In Progress", and then have asked that everyone change the status of the task from "New" to "In Progress" as soon as they receive the notification in their Wrike inbox that says "@____ All the necessary task dependencies have been completed, so you can start working on it right away" so that they have a record of all of the projects that are ready for them to work on. Often times, however, people feel like they get too many notifications in their inbox since they receive a lot of notifications around tasks being assigned to them, so our users are worried they might miss the "all dependencies have been met" note, and would rather just have all of the tasks that are ready to be worked on as another filter option for their dashboard. Since the system is already able to identify the tasks that are ready to be worked on by the next person, is there a way to add a filter that would allow our users to filter these tasks into a separate widget in their dashboard?

I'm wondering if your team tried using 'assigned to me' Dashboard widget? This will have a full list of all tasks assigned to them and might help manage what they should be working on daily, weekly etc.
I wholeheartedly agree with this! And it seems to be a simple ask in my opinion. The workaround they've instituted is workable, however I do feel that there's a loss in productivity to ask staff to do this. Over hundreds of employees, this would add up to hours of time wasted over the course of time. It requires people to stop, go into Wrike, and change a status. This would likely cost people 30 seconds or more. When someone has hundreds of tasks, this is not a productive use of time.
The "assigned to me" dashboard isn't helpful in this case either. It only shows everything that's assigned to them. It doesn't show anything about what's ready to be worked on. They have to comb through this list every day to try and figure out what's ready and what isn't. Again, a loss of valuable productivity here. For a project management system, this seems to be a big oversight.
Our staff is frustrated and wants a better way to determine what's ready and what isn't. Please consider moving this into development. It seems so simple!
The filter would be to “show tasks assigned to me where the predecessor has been marked complete”
Hi Melissa, thanks for your vote here. Our team keeps a close eye on the ideas posted here and once it reaches 60 votes the team will begin to see if and when they can add it to their Product Discussions.
I just want to add another workaround that might help for specific Projects/Workflows in case you're not aware of it. It's auto-assign based on Status, this allows you to pre-set who should be assigned to a task when the Status is changed. Meaning when you finish your part and change the status to the next step in the workflow, you can have it predetermined who should automatically be assigned to complete the next steps.

Has there been any progress on this request? I was going to come and request this exact thing today, but searched and found this. This would be a tremendously helpful feature for our team as well. I filter by assigned to me, but often the tasks for me aren't yet available to start on, and I can't know that without researching the previous task.
Agree this would be nice, another element of ease for the user. You guys came out with Approvals lately that are also in the ilk of this type of info in workflows to aid the user, instead of more "empty" basics like a dashboard showing tasks assigned with no context, or status updates - all other tools have that stuff, but you guys have a bunch more depth around what you offer in terms of sophistication in workflow management!
This would be SO helpful to our team! It would be great to filter showing tasks "Ready to Start" and / or "Waiting on Dependent" so you can have one widget showing tasks assigned to you with the due date that are ready to start and a widget showing ones assigned to you that aren't ready to start so you can see what's on deck.
Or - if the tasks that don't have the dependencies done could appear greyed out on the widgets - that would be helpful.
Many of our users use the dashboards widgets for tasks assigned to them - but then can't easily tell the difference between ones they can start and ones they have to wait on. It's inefficient for them to have to look through all and see if the dependent task is done.
Our users are also overwhelmed with the amount of inbox notifications and often miss the "all dependencies have been completed" notification.

We have been saying exactly this! Right now we utilize a "assigned to me" widget in dashboards and once the task is ready to start our users change the task from "assigned" to "in progress." We would really appreciate a clearer way to see what dependencies are completed.
I am new to Wrike and was searching to see if there was a way to show only tasks ready to start
I am on the trial looking at task managment options. This could be in the con list when I decide what to select in the end. My team has a plethora of tasks that come and go. And many have dependencies. Having to filter through to find them would not add value.
Are you up to 60 yet.
If not let me know how close you are to getting a solution to this.

A workaround is possible today with Wrike Integrate. Community recipe example at https://www.workato.com/recipes/1089764.
Wrike generally hides "Deferred" tasks from most views, so when creating the project, use a "Deferred" status for any task that can't be started until another task is done. When any task is completed, this recipe loops through that task's dependencies looking for successors, and activates any successor task where all of its predecessor tasks have been completed.
Note that this example recipe currently only works with Finish-to-Start dependencies. If your project uses other dependency types, the recipe would need to be adjusted accordingly.

It looks like this thread has been dormant for a year; has there been any progress on this question? The inability to filter out tasks that can't be started due to an incomplete dependency is a real bummer.

Although the "ready for you filter" isn't available, Wrike has recently released Wrike's Automation that can be helpful in this case. If you're using task dependencies, you can set up an automation rule; the trigger would be "if all predecessor statuses change to.." (for example, completed), and the action "change task status to..." (for example, in progress):
That way, if upon creation all tasks in a particular project/folder/space (you can set it up in the first step of the automation rule setting) have been assigned, the automation rule that changes statuses should be helpful in this case.
