Selective deletion for recycle bin

Our recycle bin is very full, but I don't want to delete all of it in case there are any recent deletions that need to be restored (we just had that happen today, in fact). It would be wonderful if there was an option to selectively delete items from the recycle bin, or to delete any items that were "recycled" before a certain date. For that matter, it would also be great to see the deletion date on the items, as there's no indication as to which ones were deleted recently and which have been there for the past year.

Hi Diane Boudreau, welcome to the Community! You can use the mass edit option to select multiple items in your bin (instead of all of them):

Also, you can use Activity reports to check the dates when your items were deleted, restored, erased from the recycle bin, and more:

Is this what you were looking for?

How can that be used to filter the items in the recycling bin so that only certain item are deleted? Ie. anything deleted over 1 year ago

I created an activity report and I can see what is in my bin that is old, but how can I empty the bin of only those items?

Hi Juan,

When I select the "mass edit" option you mentioned, the only options I get are "Select all" or "Unselect all." There is no way for me to select individual items for deletion. So my options are still all or none.

Hi Diane Boudreau, when you click on the mass edit option, you're able to select multiple tasks:

However, I can see in your screenshots that you're referring to folders and projects. In that case, I'm afraid that the option is not available. Thank you for sharing these additional details, I've shared your comment with our relevant team 👍

Hi Claire Findlay, thank you for sharing this question with us. May I ask if filtering the bin by start/due/completed date would help in your case?

Would the last modified date be the date it was cancelled? or does that not count as modified? If it is, then that could work.

Hi Claire Findlay. Yes, the change of status counts as the item being modified 👍

Please, let us know if you have any other questions 🙂

@... I've been able to filter and multi select the tasks and delete forever the ones I want, but I can't seem to be able to do that for folders or project. Is there anyway to filter and multi select those?

That's not currently possible in the recycle bin Claire Findlay
