๐Ÿค– Releases - Automation, Wrike Lightspeed, and an Important Announcement on New Table View (05/01/2023)

Announcements

As our team continues to enhance Wrike Lightspeed, we're happy to tell you that as this progresses, the New Table view will encompass the features of both classic Table view and the List view.
ย
For this reason, our team is planning to merge the New Table view with the List view later this year. Not to worry - it wonโ€™t happen before the New Table view reaches capabilityย parityย with both views.ย
ย
We'd love to hear from you in relation to this planned merge, especially if you use the List view frequently, so please let us know your feedback in this thread ๐Ÿ™Œ

Feature Updates

We've added the Change name action that allows you to:
-Replace the original items' name with something new (Change to...)
-Add a prefix to the beginning of the title
-Add a suffix to the end of the title
This addition unlocks the naming conventions for your work items. Please note that there's a limit to the number of characters you can add within the action: 1000 for tasks and 100 for projects.
Find a useful walkthrough of this new action in this Community post.
We've added a compact display density for the New Table view. It works the same as in the "classic" Table view.
Before: when you opened space settings you could still see the sidebar and top navigation.
Now: space settings open in full-screen mode, and you can close them by clicking the new X button in the upper right corner of the workspace.

sounds like great changes as always, especially with the ability to add prefix/suffix.ย  ย  One of the items my team struggles with is wanting to mass edit the prefix, any other discussion on something like that?ย  ย An automation isn't needed, but the need for changing bad prefix is def important for my team.

It's a great move to retire the List View. It's just too simple.

By making the New Table View the default view, current and new Wrike users are gonna have a much better perception of functionality they might not yet be using to manage their work. Of course this move can only be done by making the New Table View very fast to load and with all the functionality from the current List View and Table View... as you guys are doing :-)

When a minimalist list of tasks are needed, it's possible to easily create a new New Table View with it's options making it very simple.

...

I loved the compact mode!

I may be in the minority, but list mode is my favorite for a LOT of my usage.... it's clean and easy to scan. I know I can't stop this train, but putting it out there so that it can be kept in mind when deciding on the final look and feel options of the new table view.

I feel the same.

For the majority of our team, List view is the easiest to use and often the ONLY view they use. List view is the most like other project/work management tools they're familiar with, which helps with onboarding and compliance. We will face a lot of pushback if List view goes away, and likely pressure to move to another product that doesn't offer the more robust backend features those of us managing these projects rely on. PLEASE do not entirely eliminate list view!ย

I can see that there is a wide range of opinions of List View. I personally rarely use it. I mostly only use it to do multi-edits. Otherwise, Table View provides the data I want. I find List View too flat and I don't want to drill down through folders or show everything all in one big list. I prefer the Table View structure.ย  But, I can understand where other workflows would want a simple clean list view of their items if they don't have a lot of structure.

Biggest "YAY" from me on this update is the Compact View of the New Table View. That was definitely something missing and making this new view less efficient for us. We are getting really close to the New Table View being ready for prime time.

Ginger Nasser, Stephen Hopkins and Amanda Whitbred, look this comparasion between the New Table View and the List View. Have in mind that this is the current New Table View, that's in beta test and is receiving improvements.

Lisa said in the post that "the change wonโ€™t happen before the New Table view reaches capability parity with both views", so would be great if you guys can mention in more detail how you use the List View and current Table View.

My contribution:

  1. When the "Assignees" column reaches a minimum width, make it show only the user's avatar.
  2. I think it's necessary to offer a midpoint density option between the two available right now.
  3. There should be an option to show items with or without the "late, today, this week, later" separation.
  4. There should also be an option to hide the line/item numbers.
  5. Administrators should have a way to set the desired default styles for each type of view. Especially, there should be a way to set the style of the new Table View that will replace the List View as the default when it merges/retires.

:-)

Until table view allows me to MASS edit items, I will always need List view. My preference is Table View for simplicity, however, in our industry, our projects require multiple asset builds (digital, social, comms, print and promotional items) Sometimes my project can have 50+ tasks. If I need to edit due dates for 20+ tasks, I can't do that easily in Table view.

I may be completely missing it but in Lightspeed I can no longer find the "email to this task" under the task link.ย

Hi Sara Wahlund, thank you very much for your detailed feedback, we totally understand the importance of having the ability to mass edit tasks. Once we have any updates regarding this option we will let you know ๐Ÿ‘
ย
Talia Neal thank you for flagging this, I've passed your feedback to our Product Team. At the moment, you can continue using this feature by respecting the format wrike+taskID@wrike.com. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
ย
Thank you!

The home landing page is missing.ย  You are reverting back to the old left-hand navigation which was cluttered and to long.ย  By the time you reached what you are looking for you loose your positions and have to start over.ย  The use ofย  Wrike should save us time and not make it harder to fine what you are looking for.ย  Please do not get rid of the home landing page and the quick navigation tools at the top right to get to calendars, blueprints, reports and other items that quick retrieval is needed.

I agree with Margaret Hutto! Lightspeed doesn't include quick nav tools to the home page, blueprints, recycle bin, etc. Please include all options currently offered in the nine-dot icon in the upper-right corner within the new Lightspeed customized menu options now in the left-hand corner. TYIA!ย  ย

Can someone contact me to show me what Lightspeed is going to do? If it deletes list view, I do not know how I could even use Wrike then. I would need to be retrained on how to use Wrike.
