Delete Groups

We have unshared all projects, tasks, folders, etc from groups in our accounts. Then deleted all users from the groups. We are still unable to DELETE old groups. It would be awesome if we could have a fix for this. When working with support, they didn't have a solution for me. We even logged in as users to verify all tasks/projects/folders were unshared. Still couldn't delete.

As an admin on my department's Wrike account, it doesn't make sense to me why groups cannot be deleted.

In case anyone is looking for a workaround for seeing what is shared with a User Group, you can find one on Matt's post

Thank you Stephanie,

I am aware that I can log in as a particular user now and I do use a collaborator seat to trouble shoot issues, but that isn't efficient when you are managing 275 users.

Unfortunately, Matt's hack doesn't work. I even erased shared folders but still can't delete group. When i added a new user, no projects have been shared with that group.

@Stephanie,

I guess that we still can't delete user groups.

Was the new way that can delete user groups developed?

Currently, I create a parent group named "Del" and am storing all unnecessary groups without any members in there as child groups.

I want to delete them from our Wrike completely.

Please tell me current situation of this request.

@Akira Hey, jumping in for Stephanie 🙂 You can delete User Groups, just make sure to unshare all items from a User Group before that.

I am having problems deleting groups as well. Even after following all of the above directions. It would be great to see a list of all shared folders/projects by clicking on the group. It would also be nice to be able to delete users from the group by clicking on the group and simply removing them, rather than going to each individual to edit their groups.

Lisa - I have been trying all methods now. I have deleted all items related to a specific group and I am still not able to delete the group I am trying to delete. Really - all I want to do is rename the group to something else - but it is CRUCIAL that nothing other than the items that I want this group to see is available for the group. Hence - It has to be deleted and a new group has to be created.

Matts solution is apparently not enough to find all places that may be shared (as we are not only talking about folders/project, but also request forms etc.). I have spent 2 hours this evening on this and I really hope there is a better way being developed so that I can see from the Admin view what a group is allowed to see rather than the other way around.

I would also state that it would not be nice to have - this is an absolute must. Especially considering the time that has passed since the original posts on this topic.

Hi Thomas Strand, I've raised a Support ticket for you, someone should be in contact with you soon.

Thank you for the feedback, Caitlin Beaty - WFH 12.5! It is currently possible to keep track on which users have access to tasks/projects/folders through Access Reports

Let me know if this helps! 😊

Hi @..., The immediate issue was resolved with the help from your support back in January....... The group that I tried to remove had some sort of hidden connection to something that me as an owner and administrator was unable to view or know.

My initial request remains the same, it should be part of the requirements as a must have, to be able to (as an administrator/owner) check via an admin-interface what stops the deletion of a group and/or user.

Furthermore @..., Access Reports has been limited to Enterprise Accounts for some reason, so that option is not available in the subscription we have (Business).

Permanently deleted user

This is also frustrating on my end - I've had empty groups for months now and the unsharing workaround is not working. Admins needs to be able to delete these groups.
