[Duplicate] Drag and Drop Files

Note from Wrike Team: Check out Move Attachments to vote for the original request.

Hi -

Is there any talk of expanding the ability to drag and drop files between tasks or within one task.

For example if files are not layered correctly it would be helpful to be able to drag the revised file directly over the existing file (automatically updating the version) or drag a file from one task to another.?

Hi Stacey 👋  Norm and I spoke about this in his post Move Attachments. Moving files from one task to another is currently not available but your vote and input would be great in his post.

I also recommended using cloud systems like Google Drive would make it easier to simply copy and paste the file-links to other tasks. This might be an option for now.

If there's any new info on this request I'll update Norm's post and I'll mark this post as a duplicate now to keep all votes on the one request!

Thanks for posting 👍

I vote for moving files between tasks as well.  Drag and drop, copy and paste either would be a great addition.

Thanks

Thanks Stephen.

Unfortunately the security in my organization doesn't allow Google drive or drop box.

They also block our ability to use the document editor.  In the past I've asked if there is a way to edit and layer Word documents as we do PDFs in Wrike.  This would solve our security issue and allow us to work faster and cleaner.  Would be a great advantage for our team.

Any discussion around this?

Thanks,

Stacey

Happy Monday! I totally understand Stacey. The good news is, since Friday, you can now view .doc, .docx, .ppt, and .pptx files from within Wrike 🙌

Why not give it a try. We'd love to hear your feedback 👍

Hi Stephen

What do you mean view?  I can view them in Wrike.  But I can't annotate like a pdf.  Are you saying that's possible now?

Hi Stacey! Jumping in here for Stephen quickly. Yes, just like you can use Proofing for pdf files, you're now able to do the same for the file types that Stephen mentioned. You can follow the steps listed on our Proofing page, but essentially you

  1. Upload the document to Wrike.
  2. Click on the document from within Wrike.

Your file will open in the proofing view and then you can begin adding comments. This is a very recent release so excited to hear what you think. 😀

This is fantastic! I've been using Box links for things like .ppt documents that need reviewing, but now I can just edit them within Wrike. Major win!
