Request Form - have dropdown map to assignee
I'd like to see the ability for a dropdown option set the Assignee. My use case is a request form for website content changes. If I had a dropdown with the section of the site being updated (press, blog, product, etc), then I could route that to the appropriate content editor.
Hi Lee, thanks for sharing this idea (personally, I think this sounds great!). We'll make sure to send people here if we hear similar requests.
Very interesting idea!
The list of potential assignees should be predefined/limited by the form definition.
I.e. A question regarding type of task requested could have a drop-down list of responses where the resulting action would define a predefined assignee (that might even be invisible to the form user):
- Engineering -> action assignee John X (Engineer)
- Testing -> action assignee Peter T (Test Engineer)
- etc
@Miquel, that's very insightful, thank you for commenting on this request!
This would be extremely helpful. As of right now we have one request form for technology service requests. On that request we have 17 different locations and it would be great when the user entering the request selects the location it would auto assign to the tech in that building. As of right now it has to go into a new request folder and we need to manually assign them to the tech that handles that location. The only other option is to create 17 different request forms and it may become difficult to staff to choose the right one.
Hi Louis! That's a great example and an interesting use case. Thanks for sharing it here, it really helps understand how teams could benefit from this functionality.
This would be great!
On a similar note, it would be great if the dropdown menus could determine the folder that the task gets put in, or the dropdown menu could create sub tasks?
In our team we have ask the user to pick an option from a drop down, depending on their answer the task may or may not need sub tasks to sit within it, so would be great to control this and have the system do that automatically instead of having to go in and add subtasks manually...
Hi Holly, thanks for your comment! Just to clarify: are you looking for an option which would put a single task into a specific existing Folder, or allowing users to start up various Project templates based on the given answer (now it's possible to link a single Project template to a Request Form)?
Hi Anastasia,
More so I would be looking for an option to create subtasks within a folder from a dropdown menu.
We don't really use the projects in Wrike as our jobs are more ticket based from other users in the business, than projects so can't use the template function, and if we did use the project template to launch requests from, this would still need to be dynamic based on the users choice from the dropdown menu.
i.e. User submits request > Choose from type of work (a,b,c,d) > decide on additional requirements (1,2,3,4).
It's the additional requirements that would need sub tasks to be created if the user chooses them or not...
We have the users choose a "type of work" which could be 15 or so options which would be confusing in separate requests (and also needs to be dynamic to give the option to include additional requirements).
Hope that makes sense?
It could be the same as the "Project from a template" functionality, but just "task from a template" functionality instead..?
Thanks
Holly
Holly, thanks for the explanation! As I've already mentioned, I love all the feedback you've submitted about Request Forms. It's fantastic learning about the use cases behind these requests, so I really appreciate that you've mentioned how your team structures work and processes.
Hi again Holly! Wanted to follow up and say that there's actually another post on the Community which requests that exact functionality, and it would be great if you could add your vote there: Task Templates Option from the Request Form.
Dear Wrike Team,
Thank you very much for enabling the possibility to map responses of request forms to Assignee and additional folders!
We have just setup a form request with this feature and the result is ABSOLUTELY GREAT!
Thank you very much for making it Wrike!
Hi everyone! That's absolutely right, @Miquel beat me to sharing the great news here: we just released new conditional options in Request forms, which now allow you to:
Hope you like this feature, and I'll be happy to hear your feedback about it! :)
When building a request form as an admin, there needs to be functionality that allows you to insert a drop down of existing team members to select from. Pretty much like the assign function on tasks or projects. For instance, if one of my request form questions is who is the copy writer, the person filling out the form should be able to select from the list of writers on the team or even from the entire team list.
