Mark Approval Complete without cancelling approval

Hello Fellow Community Team Members

A question for you:

1) When an approval is setup - and they approve it but do so in the comments instead of using the approval feature...can the admin or a regular user go in and mark it approved instead? Like us Pushing the approval through.

Here is an approval that was created. This approver @ metnioned that he "rejected" and we need to make revisions. Instead of using the approval feature.

Our team is still getting used to using this function, so to keep projects moving while they learn I'd like to be able to go in and do this for some to finish out the approval process. Instead at the moment when i see this I have to press "cancel approval" so the team can move forward with their revisions, upload their new file as a variation, and setup a fresh approval.

Is their a way as an admin or maybe even a regular user could (like a designer if they see this happen), force the approval?

If not - can this function be created in Wrike Development, eventually perhaps?

Hi Aimee Reistad, the task author/assignee(s) can finish the approval process manually. In your use case, I suggest also creating an automation rule to remind users to finish the standing approvals and add a note on how to finish the approval.

CansuThank you. I need a way to override their approval.

Thank you for getting back to me Aimee Reistad, at the moment, only the task assignee/author can override. I'll pass on your feedback.

Hi Aimee,

if the task assignee can override the approval, would it be a workaround for your to change the assignee to yourself, override the approval and then assign it back to the original assignee?

I think it makes sense that not "everybody" may override the approval.

Florian

Hi Cansu,

I just tried it out - as an assignee I see only the button to cancel the approval. If I change the according workflow status to "Approved", a comment "Approval was cancelled" by Wrike Bot appears in the activity stream.

Florian KislichI 4:14 response: that would take up more time than me only pressing "cancel" and more work for me. Not "everybody" needs to have access to override the approvals, only the admin (me & my boss).

4:23 Correct. If I press cancel, it cancels the approval and it shows I cancelled it.

The problem is the team is working so fast, they're forgetting at times to use the approval funtion and instead only @ mention and comment. While we work to get them to do this each time it will take time and probably still not ever be perfect. And cancelling the approval isn't the answer, as it looks like it's cancelled, when it's not. We have to scroll through the comments to confirm each approver actually mentioned that they approve. Instead it would be great to be able to override the approval as the admin and say it was approved, instead of only having the option to cancel.

The assignee can't override the approval either. Plus, if they did it wouldn't be proof that the approver approved, as it's not up to the designer to decide if it's approved, only the project manager or initiator.

This happens to me all the time. I keep pushing for people to use the approve button, but it often doesn't happen. Get a comment that it's approved and then I have to cancel the approval. I've gotten in the habit of adding checklist of all the people who need to approve, and then checking their names off when they have done so, but that makes more work for me.

Robin Hayes Exactly! I do the same thing. The purpose is to create less work for all, and instead more work is being added.

Hi everyone, thank you all for the feedback!

Florian Kislich, it's my bad, I meant "canceling" actually not approving to finish the approval process you're absolutely correct.
