Request form due dates targeting tasks in the middle of the project

Hi! I had trouble with the title on this one, so hopefully I can clear that up here. I've set up request forms that launches blueprinted projects for my team. The trick I'm running into is that some of these projects have "post launch" tasks associated with them and when the form is filled out, we want to set a "due date" to target the launch task (as opposed to the last task in the project).

Any ideas or thoughts on how to approach this?

Hi Rich Teachout , I posted a similar request to reschedule by a milestone task, since our launches typically fall in the middle of the project. Please see the Product Feedback post "Duplicating Projects - Reschedule by Milestone" and add your thoughts!

Rich Teachout, you can set a start date on the request form to have your first task start on that date. Just on a side note do you have dependencies built within your blue prints? This may help to make sure that regardless of what you enter for a start or end date that all of your tasks flow.

Let me know if you need more assistance here noting that you will probably want dependencies built for this feature to work at its best.

Thanks Ryan Nelson - Yep we have dependencies built in. The issue is that we have a launch date that we want to target, but there are also post launch tasks that need to happen. So when someone submits the form, they need to set a "due date" and we have no way of setting that due date to target the launch date (that happens in the middle of the project).

I'm describing this horribly I know. :)

What we need is, when filling out a request form, to be able to target a specific task/milestone, as opposed to only the first or last task in the project.

Thanks!

Rich Teachout That is a tough one. I am not sure if I have come across that before. Sorry I could not be more help. Hopefully Carolanne's post will help.

Rich Teachout our only workaround is to add a task to the blueprint, on the same date as the Launch Task, called "Add Post Launch Tasks to Wrike" which contains a bulleted list of all the post live tasks in the Description section of it.

We use this same mechanism for scheduling events and board meetings. The template/blueprint has tasks with dates related to the milestone/event. The post-event/milestone tasks have a set time to close (ie 7 days after event, 30 days after or other). The instruction in the request form references that close date. After completing the request the new project is created and all dates are calculated from the last task date. The milestone then is dated to the actual event or meeting.
