Custom Item Types in Analyze

En avant

Custom item types are really a game changer when it comes to reporting using Wrike Analyze. They have made it so much easier to sort data and report on very specific things. I would recommend using them for all work types.

Would love to hear more about your use case. We've been using Wrike for 2 years but haven't started to use custom item types yet as I haven't come up with a good enough reason to use a custom type vs a tas/project/folder.

I work in the publishing industry, so we are tracking different parts of the book as a whole before it all comes together. Sometimes I only want to report on covers or pages or endsheets. How many of each do we complete per week in a given period. What does our work dispersal look like for each type of item, etc. It can also be used to track things like number of cover rework notices submitted via a QC form vs. total number of covers completed, etc.

I've also found it to be very helpful in the search function since we may have multiple task types and form submissions associated with the same job. In the search, I can find at a glance what I need because each of the item types has a different icon.

Hope that helps!

Lea Labastida Here is a screenshot from a search. I searched for the job number associated with a particular account. Below, I can see I have various types of tasks associated with this job number at a glance, including: book cover, endsheets, charge forms, and art session. Hope that helps!

Lea Labastida Yep! I forgot to mention, this also helps tell at a glance what types of things someone on our team is working and I can make sure each task has the correct fields associated with it even if the task moves to a different department's folder.
