Toggle Option to Mute Recurrent Task Notifications
Hello!
We use recurrent tasks for our company team meetings to support workload review/availability for our team. This means that we have tasks set up through the end of the year (and have 4 different meetings currently each week) - we elected not to use the create as it goes function because that would nullify the purpose which is to see that time booked for the team weeks/months in advance.
As a growing firm, we are adding new employees consistently. While the creation of a new recurrent task does not create mass notifications, updating the series does. These are tasks that the team really does not need notifications on, it's a place for them to charge their time within Wrike and book that time in workload chart.
Being able to toggle off notifications (or have the option to set to mute when the recurrent task is created) would be a great help, as currently I have my team getting mass emails & wrike inbox notifications every time I have to update the series.
Thanks!
We've also run into this sort of thing, usually happening because assignees to the recurring task can't unfollow a task their assigned to.
We've found the solution to be asking everyone to curate their notification settings to turn off items like changes to task descriptions, and comments where they weren't tagged; and set up a company-wide culture of using tagging if we wanted someone to see a comment or change, otherwise don't expect their eyes to ever see it.
As you've said, being able to toggle off notifications, while remaining assigned - seems to be what is being asked (correct?).
The first time I hovered over the 'unfollow task' button in the follow pop-up, and it showed the tooltip with "You can't unfollow task you're assigned to" broke my brain. lol
Hey Joey!
Yes, you've summed it up correctly. We want to keep people assigned, just not receive notifications on updates.
We are considering having everyone turn off the email notifications, but we view that notification selection as a back up if people miss items in their Wrike inbox - definitely increases accountability.
Muting all notifications would hopefully reduce email spam and Wrike inbox spam, vs the alterative of potentially missing information on an assigned task that IS important, simply to avoid the mass notifications of a few tasks.

We need this as well.
We have over 50 tasks that reoccur monthly (or weekly), and every time something changes (which happens extremely often), team members get 100+ notifications in their Wrike inboxes.
They do not need to be notified about the task until the day it is due (or at all). They manage the tasks in their dashboard day-to-day.
My team is becoming frustrated with the notifications coming through on mobile and missing the critical @mentions in their Wrike inbox.
Something like - "Turn off UPFRONT recurring task notifications in your Wrike inbox." Would be fantastic for our team.
Thank you,
Naomi Jean
