Something I would really like is the ability to filter out projects that I don't have active tasks in.  If I want to see all of my tasks in a timeline it's completely dominated by projects that I'm not involved in at all, or that I'm done with.  I just want a Gantt-like view for my tasks so I can easily see what's in the pipeline and what's coming up.

Hi everyone, we'll be responding to some of you in more detail, but for those that haven't seen it yet...assignees are now visible on the new Timeline! 🙌

That's sort of useful but is there a way to filter out lines by assignee?  There's a filter option but I've got it set to: me and I still see a bunch of stuff (projects and folders, not tasks) that doesn't have my name in the column.

I've been discussing this with my manager and what we'd really like is for the timeline to filter out completed and cancelled projects (and the folders that contain only completed and/or cancelled projects).  When we go to the timeline for any of our top-level folders most of what we see are completed projects and their containing folders, for any projects that are shared with us.  It becomes very difficult to see what your actual tasks are.  We can use the dashboard for that but it's much easier to plan scheduling and workload when you have a gantt chart-like view of all of your projects

@Seth thank you for the comment today, we'll share that use case with our team. In terms of filtering out by assignee, I just tested and when I filtered for tasks assigned to me, I saw only tasks I was assigned to. I just want to confirm that you're setting filters by clicking the filters icon and then checking the box next to your name under "assignee". Let me know if that is what you're doing and I can create a Support ticket if it still isn't working.

Hello everyone, here's my suggestion: I'd really like the ability to filter by a specific milestone (or generic task) to show all the dependencies.

For example, in my organization I've a "sprint" project each week, with a lot of tasks assigned to me or other members, if I could filter by a specific milestone and all it's dependencies, I'd have in a glance the status of all tasks connected to the milestone (including tasks outside current folder or in a subfolder) and with just few click check the progress of a specific release.

@Stephanie the problem isn't with tasks but with projects.  We have dozens of projects that I'm not involved in or no longer have active tasks in, and they all take up space in my timeline.  The majority of vertical space in my timeline is taken up showing me projects I don't care about and can't hide.

@Stephanie I should clarify that I'm not talking about looking at the timeline of a bottom level project.  I want to be able to see all my tasks in the timeline format so I go to our top level folder (which has, as I said, dozens of projects in it) and look at the timeline, but most of what I see of a bunch of folders and projects that are either: (a) closed, (b) I have no active tasks in.

Gotta be able to print from new time line. Print should be possible for big projetcs with tasks that are further down the scroll

@Everyone We released the option to print from the Timeline today! 🙌 To do this:

  1. Click the three-dot menu icon in the view's top-right.
  2. Select Print

The file is downloaded to your computer as a pdf.

@Seth that makes sense, thank you! Our team is considering how to handle completed Projects on the Folder tree at the moment and this sounds like it would be an expansion of that thinking. I'm going to share your comment with them so they can keep it in mind as they plan.

@Stephanie

This is great news! Excellent way to start the week. Except...

I'm hoping that soon we'll be able to set surrounding dates to print, as my last task descriptions are cut off with no way to view them in print – so I'm still printing from the old timeline where I can set date parameters!

The print function should be able to print the table as a option

When printing the new timeline can you add on option to print the columns that display to the left of the Gantt chart?

wrike team, I like the new timeline specially the how you can enter durations down the list. However there is a serious issue with printing both in old and new timeline

New Time: Table doesnt print, it cuts off the end of the schedule and brings in unnecessary date range on the front end of the schedule
Old Time line: When you use the print function the colors (of the workflow) dont print out and thats no bueno.

Cmon guys Wrike is awesome but print is as basic as it gets.

I'd love to see a "SAVE OPTIONS" button so that I can save default filter views. Very tedious to check the filter boxes every time.

Reeeally need to add these features back in - they were hugely valuable and really helped to set Wrike ahead of the others!!

  • Create tasks by holding shift and clicking on the Timeline - this is a HUGE NEED! Speeds up creating project plans in a fraction of the time of other systems.
  • Create or share a Timeline Snapshot - absolutely one of the coolest features ever, for quick sharing of project plans with customers and managers, or folks who we don't want to add to the system, etc.

I second Ian Preedy's suggestion about adding the option to print it as a Gantt chart (including the table in the timeline view).

I received the notification for New Timeline, ("Wrike Timeline now easier to use") today.

I appreciate to the efforts of Production Team.

Several functions that we requested are being realized.

But my colleagues have not moved to New Timeline and they are still using Old Timeline because several important functions have not realized yet.

I guess the important functions for letting move them to New Timeline are the below.

1. Graying  out  non working days according to Account Calendar.
(They are using Old Timeline to their progress check & future planning meeting. So, this function is very important. )

2. Printing option for specifying the period.
Although you announced that  "You can once again print your timelines. Just use the PDF export, located in the same place
on our previous timeline.",  this is completely different with old function regarding most important point whether users can specify
      the period or not.
I guess users can't use this PDF as their report actually, even if we can print it.

Although there are several other remaining requests, my colleagues will be able to move to New Timeline if you can resolve the requests
of the above, I guess.

We need the critical path function in the new timeline back. The old timeline is not available in Wrike Labs for me (our account is hosted in the EU).

Just had our whole PM team switch to the old timeline. Dragging a task with dependencies does not move the dependent tasks along with it. Was a hassle for our PMs to reschedule an entire project with the new timeline. Pretty major feature to leave out.

Oh dear.

It looks lovely.

But I now have 3-5 more steps now, when I'm creating a New task in a specific folder, with start & end date.
It takes me so much longer now, it's really awkward to use and I'm back on Old timeline because of this.

I'm new to Wrike, only been using it a few weeks. Now trying to use it to estimate schedule for a proposal, and I like to show the critical path, the risks, and use call out boxes to show how we mitigate those risks...except there's no way to view the critical path in the new timeline view? Apparently this was an option in the old timeline view, but was not carried over to the new one? One of the basic tenets of PM is to manage and mitigate the critical path to ensure technical compliance vs schedule and budget. Awful hard to market yourself as PM software and ignore this piece of the pie.

Hi all, in terms of the print functionality cutting off some information; the team has made enhancements to this. If you could please test it again now and feel free to post your feedback here 👇 Thanks!

Hi Akira, some people were having issues when Print to PDF. Some of the information was cut off the end when moving from different views in the Timeline (weekly, monthly etc.) The Product Team has fixed this now and it should be showing the full detail in the PDF print.

If you noticed this was happening, it would be great to give it another try now and let us know how you get on 👍

Let me post this request to here because many users who are interested in Timeline are following this thread.

You may know, Old Timeline is not displayed in Labs when new users open it.

It means that new users can't use Old Timeline even if old users in their same contract can use Old Timeline.

Everyone are posting many requests to Wrike to recover many lacking features in New Timeline.

But unfortunately several important features are not recovered yet.

I was going to wait improvements patiently by believing the efforts of product team.

And during that term, I was going to use some functions of Old Timeline ( e.g. Snapshot, Print) as an alternative way,

and was instructing such countermeasure to my new users.

But I can't use this countermeasure anymore.

So, I'm requesting Support team to include Old Timeline into Labs again but I guess my request will not be realized by only my beg. 😔

Could you vote to this comment if you can agree with me?

I'm guessing everyone will meet same problem with me.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Did not know new users don't have access to the old timeline in Labs. This will cause an issue since our entire team is using the old timeline, when new employees come on, they will be stuck using the new timeline which lacks important QoL features. Please allow new users to select the Old Timeline in Labs!
