Project progress % based on effort instead of duration
Hello,
Our organization uses the Business plan with the Wrike Resource Add-on.
We have issues with the project progress calculation that does not reflect accurately the work done.
We have about 500 to 1000 tasks in a project and in our customized Workflow, we have several validation tasks with an effort set from 1 to 3 hours.
A project progress percentage would be much more accurate if it was based on effort rather than durations.
This is an example of what I would need to be added:
Project progress
Measure as
- Completed tasks
- Duration of completed tasks
- Effort of completed tasks
- Task and duration average
- Tasks and effort average
- Don't meausure progress

Interesting idea. I don't put much stock into the progress bar though... it treats all tasks as equally weighted and some tasks just aren't relevant to determining the "completeness" of a project. I think it would also be a GOOD feature to include a checkbox in any task that if tracking is enabled... you can designate to include a task in the % calculation or not (i.e. a task becomes "key" to measuring the progress of the project).
Thank you for these ideas, folks! Our team continues working on the project progress functionality, so your feedback comes at a very good time 🙌

I agree with this request — in addition, it would be very useful if the calculation could also include the effort of ongoing (in-progress) tasks, not just completed ones. This would provide a more accurate real-time reflection of project progress.
Hi Gilad Hilerowicz 👋 Thank you for supporting Grégory’s feedback and for sharing your idea as well. We’ll keep you updated if there are any developments on this.

We use Wrike Analyze to show Project Progress based on Effort of the completed tasks (out of the total Effort on a Project) but agree it should be available as an option on the Progress Meter for Projects.
