Configurable views feedback

Hi there, someone on my team is having an issue with filters set in configurable views. When he creates a task in a folder with configurable views set, it will disappear before he's able to set a due date.

The filter set is are Due: This Month. Shown below is a screenshot of him entering the task, and then as soon as he sets the assignee, it disappears (second screenshot) because the due date is empty, thus the filter does not apply.

When I try to replicate it in my view, my due date automatically sets as today's date, so I don't have the same issue as him. Is this a setting that I can have him activate so he doesn't run into this issue anymore?
