New highlight-to-quote feature is not intuitive

We do a lot of link injecting at our studio. Metadata, updating urls via writing code, etc. This means we copy and pasting different tags in pre-existing HTML links very often.

The new highlight-to-quote feature is a major blocker with at-scale copy and pasting. Having to click twice or press escape to be able to deselect a highlighted block of content is not user friendly and extremely cumbersome. It makes technical work significantly harder.

In addition, many copy editors including myself read and think by highlighting as we go. The new update doesn't allow me to do this.

Clicking off highlighted text should deselect the text, as it does in every other text editor. I find it strange this was released in the same update as developer-friendly features like a much needed updated comment field that lets us use code in comments, as that feature is an absolute life saver!

EDIT: Confirming that highlighting a comment does not allow you to double-click the quote box away. In order to close a quote prompt on comment highlight, press escape, then click to disable your highlight.

I also have this habit, and am someone who does some of the at scale link injecting, so following this thread closely!
