[Status: Launched ๐Ÿš€] Cancelled task still showing in workoad view

So we recently had someone leave the company and I was going through to put all of those project in a cancelled status. A few things on this...

1. If you cancel a project at the "cancellation" does not trickle down to the sub projects or tasks.

2. If you drag the whole thing into Archive, there is no status change (shouldn't archive mean that the status changes to something along the line of archived??)

3. Even if you do go through the exercise of moving to archive and manually cancelling ALL tasks, the hours still show up in your workload view!! I'm not sure how that is a function but that seems silly to me. They don't show up as a task but the hour allocation remains. This is something that should be fixed ASAP in my opinion. It gives a terrible view into peoples bandwidth if there are many tasks that were cancelled but the hours are still allocated to that task.

Hi Iselin,

Remember that Wrike is very flexible and lets us create our own organization structures for the most part. Because of this, your Archive has no special meaning to Wrike and is just another folder.

Your other points about project cancellations affecting tasks and especially the cancelled tasks' effort on the workload view certainly stand and I agree that they should be changed. If the workload view isn't showing the task but still includes the effort, I would get very confused where the extra effort was coming from.

I noticed early on when I cancelled something it was not considered like a closed item like I thought it should.ย  Being able to cancel something and have it be treated as a closed item would be wonderful.

Hi guys! Please check out these instructions:

Apply filters to see only the tasks which match the criteria you select:

  1. Click the filter icon and select one of the quick filters: "All tasks", "All active tasks", and "Active tasks with Effort".
  2. Click "Add more filters" to open the filter panel with additional filtering options.
  3. Click "Clear filters" to remove all filters and see all tasks from within the location you specified during the chart creation.

Here's the link to the Help Center article. Please let me know if that helps!ย

Lisa,

Task status must be able to be changed en masse by changing the status of a whole group or project. A PM merely filtering their personal view is not acceptable, as these old tasks from cancelled projects still show in assignee's workload as overdue. To be clear, it seems to me that when an entire project is changed to 'Cancelled' or 'On Hold', tasks would then be removed from users workflow action items. Else what is the point of cancellation or placing on hold?

If certain project is canceled, tasks uder that project should be canceled also. Or at least Wrike should give us an option to cancel those tasks.

ย

I am using Resource addon and using Workload chart a lot.

ย

But if certain project is canceled, tasks are still being displayed and it is very annoying to manually cancel all those tasks.

Hi everyone,

I'm marking this feature as Launched as it is possible to remove hours from tasks in Workload view. In regards to the automation of tasks being cancelled when projects are cancelled, this is a separate product request. I would recommend making a new Product Feedback thread about this. As soon as that thread reaches 60 upvotes, our team would be able to provide you a status on the possibility of this as a future feature.

Thank you for all your feedback and comments! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Following up on this. Is there a Product Feedback thread about the auto cancellation of tasks and subtasks within projects that are cancelled? I have been looking for it and can't find it. Please send link, if it is there.ย

Hi All!ย

I'm not sure why this is considered Launched. Currently when I cancel all tasks on a project, even though my filter is set to 'All Active Tasks' and canceled is not an active status in our workflow, that time is still showing in the workload chart. Our team does not have time to manually remove hours across these tasks to remove the visibility from one report. Also, from an audit perspective removing hours prevents analysis that might be had on that previously planned time.ย

There really should be an automatic removal from the workload chart if something falls into a canceled status. Whether it's triggered from the Canceled status at the project level, or by the task status itself.ย

Thanks!
Kate

As a follow up - Here is an image showing what the workload chart looks like and the current filter. Specifically, for the expanded employee, the time as shown does is clearly far less than the total showing against daily capacity.

Hi Kate Russell,

The task filter will determine which tasks appear on your workload chart, but you'll need to click the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and select "Displayed tasks only" to exclude the effort from your cancelled tasks.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goesย ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Glen Mohrย and everyone! I've checked with the Product team and I'm sorry to inform you that they have suspended their work on this action for the Automation Engine: change children status for now. That's why it's not shown as "coming soon" when you view the available triggers and actions. We'll continue to monitor the team's progress and we'll let you know when we have an update.ย
