Better keyboard shortcuts

For me, the entire purpose of a keyboard shortcut is efficiency. It's meant to be faster.

Why is 'assign task to me'

(Left) Alt + Shift + .

?

That's 3 buttons, and to make it worse, requires both hands!

Maybe take a look at other software and web apps such as Gmail and how they have one button (eg. p/n for previous/next message in an email thread) or occasionally 2 keys together, but always doable with one hand, otherwise I have to take my hand off the mouse and it's no longer any faster than just doing long, slow multiples clicks with a mouse.

If you're worried about people accidentally hitting shortcuts, allow us to turn them off. Or customise them. Just please, don't force them to be really silly, complex 3-button shapes that are really intuitive and spread across the whole keyboard!

Thanks

A previous request re keyboard shortcuts is now closed for comments, so I'll add my $0.02 in here...

I really need a keyboard shortcut for processing my Inbox and Archiving or Snoozing items. Requiring me to use my mouse for this slows me down. Any efficient power user of a computer uses a lot of keyboard shortcuts rather than the mouse.

The currently available keyboard shortcuts are insufficient.

Can you please open the discussion again Wrike team, re the new keyboard shortcuts required?

That's great to hear Hugh O' Daly.  Some big ones I think we desperately need:

- better way to get to the search dialog.  First, the "ctrl" on Mac, or "alt" on windows is a very obscure key, and you have to pair it with BOTH shift and "s."  What's more, in the MacOS app, that key combo doesn't work if you navigate to the app from another window.  So this is really a pain to search through the index to find what you're looking for without reaching for the mouse, and I can't even do that key combo without taking a second or two and looking at the keyboard

- Fully agree with Luke Flegg that you need to be able to quickly "assign to self" or other users

- are you guys going to get into the modern ages and bring in a proper "/" function or similar, with another key command?  You're competitors have this as a standard, and it really makes for speed around an app.  Honestly I don't know of another top-flight, newer tool you guys compete with that doesn't utilize this feature in some way or form, except you guys!  Having the plain old @mention to give you the ability to mention other users in comments doesn't count, sorry!

Ok thank you Lisa.  The keyboard shortcuts I hate to say it are really punishing my team during our attempted return to Wrike.  To follow on Luke Flegg again, as well as MC Carter, simple things like "assign to self" or "create a task" should not take a combo of obscure multi-key actions.  Knowing how you guys tend to drop new features that are actually useful, like "Time in Status" on boards that there was no mention anywhere in the forum about, but you released unexpectedly, and given how out-of-date your shortcuts are, I'll hope you may be working in this in stealth mode and you can give us some update.  My list of desperately needed more simplistic shortcuts:

- Search Wrike

- Create a task

- copy a permalink

- move to inbox

- assign to self or another user

- change status

Also, your Table view is an underrated real plus of Wrike, but aside from navigation, there is not much in the way of keyboard shortcuts.  In particular, you really need to be able to open, and then close, a task with  the keyboard when navigating around in Table view.  Table view is a goto view for Keyboard "ninjas," and without the ability to manipulate tasks thoroughly from that view, you lose all the benefit that you get in tools like Notion, Airtable, etc. that specialize in Table View (but are weaker than Wrike in a host of other aspects).

Thanks!

Personally, I would really like a keyboard shortcut for "Rename". It would be extremely helpful if while highlighted on a task, project, or folder, "shift + enter" opened the pop-up note and "Enter" allowed a rename. This would be similar to the functionality of the Mac OS when renaming a file. Truthfully, I will take ANY shortcode for the "rename" function though 🤷🏽‍♀️
