Track Project Status Changes in Activity Log

With tasks, every time a change is made to its status, a comment is added to the Activity Log and owners & assignees are notified.  Projects on the other-hand, do not record changes that are made to their statuses in the project's activity log.  Project owners are not notified if their project's status is changed (and when).  This makes it difficult to follow-up with users who mistakenly change project statuses in order to correct that behavior.  It is also an issue if projects are mistakenly marked as completed, and users have their left-hand project/folder list filtered to hide completed projects.

Agree on logging project status changes. Our team would also like the ability to track custom field changes on the activity log.

Agree on wanting the ability to track custom field changes on activity log as well.

The lack of logging changes to Projects' Statuses in the Activity Feed continues to be a source of frustration in my organization.  Changes to Project assignees, Project Descriptions, Project Start & Due dates are all logged in the Project's Activity Feed.  It would seem that tracking/logging changes to the Project Statuses in the Activity Feed as well should be relatively easy to implement.

This is important to us, because we use Wrike as a job ticketing system. Since anyone can change the status of the project, we can't know for sure that it is correct unless we can tell who changed the project status. Here's the thing -- I can see a history of everything (comments, attachments, changes to the description, smiley faces, moving the project to a different folder, etc...), but I cannot see when a project's status was changed or who changed it. This function is available at the task level. Please enable it at the project level too.

Definitely needed.

In addition to showing project changes in the activity log, it would be very beneficial if email notifications could be sent to align with those project status changes. It would also be nice to have a dashboard that would allow me to show projects that I follow.  The dashboard only is set for tasks I follow.

By having that option, it would help shorten up our process.  We would no longer need to have leverage a report on when projects get completed that either I follow or that I am the owner of.

Like all the above, we some status changed are sign offs and it would be amazing to know who is kicking work back, how frequently is this happening, by team etc.

This kind of information can dramatically increase productivity and get rid of waste from the system.

Please make it a reality Wrike.

Also, does anyone know if there is a backlog of user features coming to Wrike we can monitor?

This is a frustration point for our finance organization as well for our projects.  Please consider for roadmap.

Hi everyone, apologies for the delay in response here.

The Product team is planning on adding a way so that project owners will be notified when the status of their project has been changed. When I have any updates or new information about this suggestion, I'll be sure to keep you posted.

If you need anything else, let me know!

Hello Caitlin Grumley 👋🏻

To get notifications for project status changes I can suggest you try Wrike's Automation Engine.

This rule-based automation allows the execution of various actions within tasks and projects. You can create new automation rules by navigating to your profile, then Settings, and clicking 'Automation' on the left panel.

From the Automation section, you can create a new rule. First, select the project/s and add the trigger if project status changes to and select all of the relevant statuses you'd like to be notified about.

Then click 'Add Action' and select 'Add comment or mention'. From there you can pick users you'd like to notify about the status changes.

To start the automation, click on the Create button in the upper hand corner.

I hope the above is useful to you; please let me know if you have any questions 🙋🏻‍♀️

Adding to this thread: In the Activity Reports section called Operations, there is a choice of Task Status Change but not Project Status Change. Would like to see this added as an Operation.
