Add Actual Project Completion Date - Not Just the Date of Completion

I want to see a measurable field with a project Start, Due, and Completion dates within the different views.

Currently, there is not a measurable way to view/report when a project was completed vs. when it was due. This impacts metrics as you'd want to see when a project actually started, when it was supposed to be completed, and the actual completion.

I agree. I would also like to see the same apply to tasks in Wrike.  When using MS Project, we were able to set Deadline dates, Scheduled Finish, and Actual Finish dates (among others) which allowed us to better evaluate performance/trends.

In our case, we did a workaround by adding an additional date field in Wrike with the "actual completion" information. The tasks would be later exported to Excel. By subtracting the actual date of completion vs the allocated time for the task, you would be able to identify whether a task was completed before, on time, or past the due date. From here onward, you can use Excel's charting tools (Wrike's Analytics is way too basic)...

This is not the most efficient way of getting this information, however on lack of support on this basic function we had to come up with clever ideas...

I also support all of the feedback on adding an Actual Completion Date.  @Nicolas, thank you for sharing your solution.  It was helpful in adding a custom field to my project views and exports used for project metrics reporting!

I was in Wrike and shocked that this doesn't exist.

If I want to pull a report on all projects that closed in January there is not filter to do this, just the Finish date, which for us is often not accurate. I would be great to have a field to pull the date stamp of when a project switched from Active to completed. Seems pretty strait forward, but since this is already on the task level.

Please consider!!

Thanks for all you do Wrike team!!

I believe the above post is a step in the right direction.. but a  feature I didn't see mentioned which I think is the main feature needed in this post is. Here is a specific use case - what if I have a task that is "Send email out" due 4/15, in which the email is automatically sent out through an online system, but I am out of office until 4/20, so I can't mark it complete until I get back to the office. My completion date will be 5 days late, but the email was actually sent out on the 15th. The work around of adding a custom field of actual completion will work, but a more concrete feature would be very useful in reporting and in day to day use!

Hi Kara Murphy, thank you for this use case! It's been passed on to the Product team.

I have been looking for this feature. Has it already been integrated by the Wrike team? It would really be helpful if we can have an actual completed date (vs. the original deadline) and if the connected tasks could move their deadlines based on the actual completed date of the triggering task. Any advice on how this can be done easily if the feature isn't made yet? Thank you.

I vote for a  Competed date for Projects in reporting. It seems odd that we can report on the date a Project is completed?

Hi everyone, thank you for your continued support for this suggestion! As I mentioned in this thread, our Product team planned to work on this, and they are still interested in this, but for now, we can't provide an ETA. This might be disappointing news, but please rest assured that we'll continue to share your feedback and check for status updates.

Is there any update on this function being added. We spend hours each month using workarounds to report on the actual completed date?

1
Spot On Innovative Approach Stellar Advice

Yes, I'm very curious if there has been any movement on this function!
I really need some kind of work around for reporting completed projects (not tasks!)

Thank you for supporting here folks! I don't have an update currently, but more votes for the initial post here will definitely help this idea - the Product team will be able to see if the idea is popular among the Community 👍 So please upvote if you haven't yet.

Just thought I would share my temporary (and limited functionality) solution for this.

We use automation to send complete jobs to a completed archive folder for the year.
We run a simple report to compile all completed jobs in this folder on a periodic schedule then download the report as an Excel.
Take the current report, add it to the last report and tell Excel to remove duplicate lines.
This leaves us with jobs completed within the last interval.

Not nearly as flexible as it could be if Wrike took the reins.
Hope this helps a little!

Mary thanks for sharing your work around. We do a similar process but when you get hundreds of projects it become a timely process. It would be a lot easier if we could report on the actual completion date for the project.

Perfect, thanks fort the note above Mary. I have been doing this manually for sometime now and this will save me a lot of time!

Agree! There are times when we want to report or filter widgets on "recently completed" or "completed this week/month" projects. Except all we can do is filter by finish date, and that leads to projects that had finish(due) dates in the past or future, but were marked completed within the time frame we're looking for still get left out. Not to mention the opportunity for performance metrics looking for trends between date due and date completed.

You can run a report on "completion date" for tasks, but not projects. This is a quite a serious miss for reporting options in my opinion. If the data exists in wrike, you should be able to run a report on it. No matter if it's a task or project.

I agree with Marcy on this one. In seems strange not to be able to report on the actual completed project date!

This seems like pretty native functionality that is missing. In order to see what projects completed last month, for example, we'd have to make sure all task due dates are updated to when they were actually completed so the date rollup can then update the project due date to when it was completed. With this, we lose the ability to see if something was completed early or late. It, also, can skew the dependencies of tasks by making them appear to be due earlier than truly needed due to having to adjust task dates due when completing something early. The date it is marked complete is in the audit trail so it should be able to be captured in the completed date field, as it is with tasks.
