Assign Tasks to User Groups

  • Allow tasks to be assigned to a user group rather than an individual user, to allow work to be assigned to teams that self-organise.

Hi Basudha Sakshyarika, I don't think this helps us. From my understanding of that article, the workaround is to create a rule which automatically assigns new tasks to a user group. However, there isn't one specific user group I would want all tasks assigned to. We have multiple teams working within one project plan, who also work within the same delivery stages, so it isn't as though all new tasks within a project should automatically assign to "team 1" for instance. We would need to select which team to assign tasks to based on the specific task. I don't think the workaround allows for that?

Sarah Ross You are correct. You can however create an additional custom field that says "team assigned" or something like that- then in the automation put in a condition "if team assigned field = X" then Assign user group X. This would really only work if the project was from a blueprint, otherwise this is a lot of manual effort for each individual project.
