No task left new
At our company we have a rule where if a task has been created it cannot sit in the "new status" for more than 1 day. This helps alleviate forgotten tasks that reside out there in backlog land. Once we move the status to assigned, that is our indicator that the person assigned will begin their work. If we see an Assigned status but its been a few days and the worker has nothing to show we ask and investigate. This practice helps hold more employees accountable!
Hello Jordan Crisman, thank you for sharing your best practice here. Indeed the backlog land☠️ can be a big problem and this is a great rule to prevent it from happening!
How do you identify tasks that have had a set status for longer than a day?
We have a policy where only the PM's can create tasks, so we run a report every day to see which ones are still open. We also run a report to see if anyone else has been creating the tasks in wrike besides the PM's.
This sounds great (the dream) but how tasks are we talking about in a given day? Would this work if you had 30 tasks in a day? Also did automations play a role in the policy at all. Sounds awesome!
Thanks! We run our projects a little differently as all of the tasks are assigned with a project template right in the beginning and we do not allow anyone besides admin or Upper seniority to add additional tasks. This way we can tell how long its been since a task stays new or has'nt been touched since it was assigned.
