Unable to mass edit "Item Types"

Wrike has a relatively new function that allows you to create your own customised Item Types. It a great feature that helps to tailor your blueprints of tasks and projects to display in a preferred way & to keep non-relevant fields out of view. Another great thing is you can retrospectively update an old task to the new Item type you may have created. The very bad thing is that there does not appear to be a way to mass edit the Item type. So if you want to update hundreds of tasks to a new item type you have to do each one individually. If I am wrong please someone help me out here.

Hi Ben Grams, thank you for bringing this up!

Our team is planning to add that to the New Table view - we'll be announcing it when it's available 🙂

Let me know if you have any other feedback or questions!

Hey Lacey Ramsey! I just tested this and I can see an option to mass update item type in the Table view. Is that what you were looking for?

Hi Jay Chekuri 👋

As of today, you can change a task item type to a project item type individually. To do this:

1. Select the Task: Click on the task for which you want to change the item type.
2. Open the Item View: Click the three-dot menu button in the upper right corner of the item view.
3. Change Item Type: Locate the "Change item type" option from the menu that appears and click on it.
4. Select Project Type: Choose the item type "Project" from the menu list.

Please note that mass conversion between task-based items and project-based items is not supported in Wrike. You can only change item types individually, not in bulk. If there are any updates in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know. 👍

Hi Jay,

I'm sorry I didn't read the previous comments carefully enough to recognizze what you where exactly looking for. No, it is still not possible to bulk change items from task to project or vice versa.

I guess this won't be possible at all, as it is just an automated workaround that creates a new item of the other type with the same name, as explained here: 🔥 Converting Tasks to Projects and Vice Versa 🔥 – Wrike Help Center

Don't forget you'll lose information in this process, so I don't even think mass conversion would be a good idea.

Florian
