[From Wrike] List View Users: Your Feedback Needed! ๐ฃ
Hi everyone! ๐
You probably know that our Product team continue to work on Wrike Lightspeed, and we really appreciate the feedback you shared in this recent post ๐ค
Today, weโd like to start a discussion related to the New Table view and the List view.ย
The New Table view is designed to enable the creation of both spreadsheet-like Table views that many of you use now and more simple views with few columns and no gridlines which List view users prefer. You may have noticed that one of the important enhancements in the New Table view is the right-side panel for viewing items that allows you to continue using the Table while also viewing the tasks, like you can in List view.ย
You may already know that our team is planning to merge the New Table view with the List view later this year. Please note that it wonโt happen before the New Table view reaches capability parity with both classic Table view and the current List view. For example, we know Mass Actions are a vital part of work for most of you and we will also add Mass Actions to the New Table view which were only available in the List view before.
We understand that some of you may be used to using the List view, and we want to ensure a smooth transition, and thatโs why weโd really like to hear from you!
If you use our List view a lot, please let us know if you have any concerns about the future merge of the two views in the comments below. Weโll be taking your feedback into consideration and we may contact you separately to suggest speaking with our Product team directly.ย
Thank you for helping us shape the future of Wrike! ๐

Hi Lisa, Thanks for your thorough answer! I just want to voice one concern, when comparing list view to the new table view. From your perspective, this is an advantage:
Viewing the full hierarchy, not just a single project
From my perspective - and many of the users I've worked so far, at different companies - this is a disadvantage. We use list view to not see a complex hierarchy, but a single flat list. Wrike is full of complex hierarchies and at many points in a project's lifetime it is necessary to focus on smaller parts of the big picture and lists are one of main the tools we use for this.
Lisa, all our team wants is a simple way to view tasks.ย We don't need nor will we ever need the "value points" you mentioned in your comment to us.ย All this stuff is just noise to the overwhelming majority of the users we have.ย I'm afraid if Wrike doesn't quit making these changes that your product team considers benefits, it will cause our management team to look for another platform.ย I understand that it very well may be a benefit for some users but the comments on this topic lead me to believe the majority of of the users that have posted here are not in favor of it.ย Making things more complicated for the users we have will hinder us in our goal to have them use Wrike which slows us down as a company.ย I prefer to just keep it simple and find it difficult to understand how the team can create a more complex view but not the most basic view.
Lisa - appreciate your thorough response.
While the deprecation of the original list view is understandable, given context, I think the thing that feels like it is being missed is that some/most list view users don't want the customizability of the table view. By trying to approach both use cases in one, you've bypassed the fundamental need of most list view users - simplicity. For many on my team, their focus is rarely on what additional information they want to view, customizing views, etc. Rather, they just want to view consistent, simple information across the entire system, and if they really need additional information, they'll go into a task to access just that. Ergo - making a new list view may have been more practical here, even if it's just a watered down new table view that disables some of the bells and whistles & provides a similar UI to old list view.
Moving forward, I think the most helpful thing would be the option to have a sort of "universal settings" on the account level for new table. There's certain actions I have to take every time I open a different folder in the table view - collapse all, for example. I should be able to set that as a preference on my account so I don't have to navigate to that menu every time. Same goes with a default column order, positioning, width, etc. Reducing this overhead would at least help to mitigate the other challenges for former list view users.
Thanks for listening.
----------
Honorable mention - the assignees field should have an option to just show profile pictures, as is already the only option in list view. Smaller teams don't need a textual ID for every user, and this formatting just, frankly, looks bad:
I wanted to add what seems to be a different perspective.ย Most folks here are concerned about the List View going away, and it sounds like if you just remove columns, the New Table view works just like the list view.ย Our situation must be awfully different because we're mostly concerned about losses in the Table View.ย We view our projects hierarchically nearly 100% of the time.ย So far, the New Table View is slower, not faster.ย It takes up more room (even in compact mode) which means you can't see as much of your project onscreen.ย I mentioned in a previous comment that adding/removing columns is far slower and less user friendly in the New Table View --thought if Wrike adds the ability to save a view configuration that can be applied to any context/level in a project, that won't be as bad.ย Basically, I wanted to express at least our users need the Table View to be optimized and the "old" version currently does that better.
I agree with Brandon Larocque as we utilize the Table view 99% of the time and it is far slower and definitely night "Lightspeed" like we were expecting :(
Thank you all very much for your additional feedback! We are in close contact with our Product team and passing and processing all your inputs. And we will keep you posted on any news, releases, and call-outs. We really appreciate your feedback.ย

Hello Wrike Team,
I did not read through all of the feedback but there is one thing that I wish table view had that list view currently has, the option to do multi select edits. It is so helpful, but I would love to be able to do that at the table view level because I can see more attributes of the tasks at a glance to ensure I am updating them correctly.ย
Shermaine Russellย YES!!!ย ย Multi-select in Table View would be hugely useful.ย That would eclipse all of the other planned enhancements in utility and value.
Lisa I just want to take a moment to THANK YOU for your great communication! ๐ Not only in this thread, but all throughout the community. I see a lot of negative talk in the community and you have the difficult job of sitting in the middle between the customers and developers. Wrike is a complicated tool that's designed to work for anyone's project/task organization and collaboration which can easily make the backend a rat's nest and difficult for the devs to keep up with. I understand the WHY behind merging the List view's functionality with the Table view in order to keep the backend of Wrike sustainable and maintain site speed. THANK YOU for opening this thread to hear our voices and pass along the different use cases to the dev team! Not all software organizations open up feedback opportunities like this because it can be difficult to manage, and I appreciate that Wrike is such an agile organization and listens to the people using the tool and not just make assumptions. Thank you for giving us a space for our voices to be heard! ๐
100% What Daisy Hibbard said! I was thinking something similar but wasn't sure how to articulate it. You are a fantastic communicator and facilitator, Lisa. Thank you for giving us a space to talk about how we use Wrike and air our concerns.ย
Henry Ford never actually said, โIf I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.โ That quote was first seen in Marketing Week in 2001.
However, he did say:
โIf there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other personโs point of view and see things from that personโs angle as well as from your ownโ
โ Henry Ford
It's a hard job to gather feedback from passionate users on any proposed change. Thanks again, Lisa.
Thank you for keeping the feedback coming, everyone! ๐
Daisy Hibbard, Kelly R I'm very touched, thank you for your kind words ๐

Echoing what I've seen a bit in this thread - aside from mass actions and viewing the cross-tagged folders, the other main thing I'd like the flexibility to turn on/off in the new table view is the hierarchical view.ย I like that the List view shows a fairly flat list (and I can still see the folders when I have that option toggled on), but in the new table view it seems like no matter what it sorts by folder first.ย I'd really like the option to remove that.ย
Hi Lisa, something that I realized this week is that the new table view does not allow you to add tasks to a specific calendar like the current table view does. And if you have lightspeed turned on you cannot do it in the either table view. I am really hoping that feature is added to lightspeed and the new table view. Thanks!
Hi Anna Schild and Shermaine Russell, thanks so much for taking the time to add your feedback here also, that's super helpful! We've passed this on ๐

Hi Lisa,
trying to work with the new table view I came to another realization: It is extremely slow. If the list of tasks and projects is long, it loads way longer than the list view. This would be a huge issue if you're still planning on removing the list view - and would be the total oppposite experience of "Lightspeed" ;) Would be great ,if the Product Team could look into this, before launching any drastic changes!
I'm still having a hard time with the new Table View.ย I really hope you guys can just figure out a way to keep the simple list view for those of us who want the simple approach.ย It appears that there are many of us based on the comments above.
We appreciate your feedback Ralph H, Lyra Helms, I'm passing it to the team now. We'll keep you posted on any news on Wrike Lightspeed, so please watch this space.ย

Hey, few words from my pespective.
First of all - I am big changes enthiusiast and welcome new features with happines.
However here - I am not optimistic :(
As mentioned above - List view provides simple, light and fast view of tasks.
I tried to achieve similar effect with new table view and 2 chanes are required at least:
- hide row numbers (creates unnecessary noise)
- hide asignee text decriprion (leave just icon)
I also use very specific scenario: "Open in list view" from dashboard.ย Currently new table view does not allow to see the list from dashboard without hierarchy.
And losing this possibility will be HUGE lose for me.
ย
Marcin, like you, I'm all for change and not not scared of it.ย This one scares me.ย I don't like the row numbers either and for our team, they will server no purpose except to confuse.ย I didn't know what you pointed out about "Open In List View".ย I never got that far as I went back to the classic "List View" while I still can.ย
This is great feature Wade, I have a dashboard with overdue task and with 2 clicks I can see all of them in simple list view. And the tasks are from many different projects!
ย
Thank you for your additional feedback, folks, our Product team is keeping a very close eye here!ย

Agreed Marcin.ย I use it frequently too as our account administrator.ย It is extremely helpful in cleaning up old tasks in other Wrike user accounts.ย What I meant in my previous comment was that I became so frustrated with this new table view that I never even got far enough into it to discover that the open in list view feature didn't work like it used to. This is yet another item on my list of issues with the new table view.ย ย
With Lightspeed launched and the old table view gone, I started to switch some projects from list to table view (where it would make sense). And the issues I've pointed out are now, that the old table view as "something in between" is gone, more intense than before. In its current state the new table view is no alternative to a list view at all. Especially in very big projects it's painfully slow and I am actively avoiding to click into tasks or sub-projects out of fear to having to reload this view again. It is also way too cluttered, unless you're customizing it for every bit and project.ย
I prefer the new table view from a visual and UX perspective over the old table view. Yet, if the new table view is going to replace the list view, especially in its current state, this is going to be a huge problem. It will cause huge damage to my workflows and routines with no workaround available and waste hours of my day.
Ralph H Thank you for your feedback! I just wanted to add that for now, List view remains available while the New Table view is being enhanced. Also, I've asked our Support team to look into the loading speed for you.ย

Hi Lisa,
Thanks again for opening the ticket! I just realized there's another feature missing in New Table View, that I frequently use in List View: Sorting/Grouping!
I usually sort by Status, by which the list view automatically creates groups for each status that I can collapse. Especially in bigger projects with many different tasks in the same status this is very useful, as I can see right away what the process is and if there are any risks (e.g. if there's 50 tasks with a status that reads "Client Approval Needed", but the deadline is approaching, I know I need to react asap).ย
This easy to digest overview is not available in New List View.
Please let me know, if you need any further info about this!
Groupings are planned for the New Table view too, we'll keep you posted Ralph H ๐

Hi Lisa I've been bracing myself and our team that list view will be "going away soon" for a year now. Don't get me wrong, I 1000% love list view and would be devastated to see it go, but discussions around the progress of this topic have been very quiet compared to the Lightspeed roll out. This post said Wrike was "planning to merge the New Table view with the List view later this year," last year. Just trying to gauge a status update so I can pace myself for a transition if need be/ reconsider the structure of how we are currently using the system. I think my teammates are starting to think I'm crying wolf on this topic. ๐ Thanks!
Hi Kelsey Rudolph, this is very valuable feedback, thanks a lot for sharing it. I've already brought it up with our Product team.ย
The reason we take time with the sunset of the List view is because we continue adding more features to the New Table view to ensure good experience. But the sunset is planned for this year, and we'll keep you posted on when we have more details on the timeline. Thanks again for letting us know your thoughts!ย

I do NOT like the lack of gridlines. How can I get them back?
Reasons I still go to List View:
