Dates in recurrent task titles

Hi! I noticed recurrent tasks now have their start dates in the task titles automatically. It'd be great if you could make it so that the date in the title automatically changes when the actual task date is updated. Our team creates weekly tasks for weekly meetings a lot but we often end up adjusting dates and having to change dates in two places for an individual task is an extra step. I personally never had a problem with the previous way of just numbering recurrent tasks in the titles :)

@Maiko Hi and welcome to the forums 🙌. Just wanted to follow-up quickly here. Would you like the date in the task title to update to the day that you actually make a change on the task?

@Stephanie Thanks for following up. I meant, for example, when I manually change the due date of one of the recurring tasks from January 30 to January 31, the task title remains to have "2018-01-30" and I would also have to manually change the title to reflect the new due date (otherwise it's confusing). So it'd be good if that could be done automatically. Alternatively, it'd be great to for users to have options to either include dates or numerate the recurring tasks (e.g. weekly meeting 1, weekly meeting 2...) when making a task recurring.

@Maiko That makes sense now! Thank you so much, I'm passing this use case on to our team.

Hello,

I also had a question about is there is a way to adjust the settings for the recurring task "title" to NOT be updated. Many times the date I start a task is not relevant to the title of the recurring task. going back and deleting the populated date or correcting it every time makes the recurring tasks much less convenient.

When I use recurring tasks I want to "set it and forget it" as far as the task description. I dont want to have to keep revising it because the date is not always appropriate.

Thanks,

Hi Tatiana, I understand what you're looking for here. This would require a complete re-work of recurrent tasks so it's not currently in the scope of the recent roadmap.

If there's any updates, I'll be sure to keep you all informed here 👍

@Stephen,

This seems like a must have addition to the recurrent task feature though. Most recurrent tasks are created to be date based (weekly, monthly, etc) and most people want to view them by date.

What you can do is allow {mm-dd-yyyy} to be added to the title and then when the job runs to create the recurring schedule it replaces the title attribute of the task with the current date.

I think this would be hugely beneficial and should not take a significant development effort. I can expand on this further if your team would like.

Thanks,
