[Status: Launched 🚀] Mass update for custom field

Hi Dinesh, I think you would like to be able to change the Custom Field for multiple tasks at the same time - and for all the tasks to have the same Custom Field value? Let me know if I'm getting that wrong. 

In the meantime, I think this post might be an interesting one for you to +1, it suggests being able to update tasks via Excel import. 

I too would like to see this without needing to use the import function. In the list view you can multi-select and change the status of a task. It would be great to do this for a custom field as well. I would like to be able to do this in the list view or in the table view. 

This is a HUGE need for our team. It would cut out hours of updating tasks, there are times when certain fields we are tracking have to change based on client requests and we want to d our best to track this without adding more work .

currently, I export a project to excel, change the custom field value, open a new project (to avoid duplication) , import the corrected excel file, erease the original project

Our use case is that we've been tracking some information in the task title (which isn't reportable). We realized it would make a lot of our internal reporting faster and more consistent if those tasks all had a custom field with that information, but it's a lot of work to backtrack and update hundreds of tasks that have already been created.

Being able to search for tasks with "XYZ" in the title, select all of them, and update their custom field to say "XYZ" would really help with restructuring our data.

Copy/Paste or Drag Values Down like Excel would be amazing!!!!

This is fundamental! A Copy/paste function on the table view would save us a huge amount of time!

I've faced the same SAP-problem (TA MASS for contracts and no updating of customer fields CI_EKPODB. Worse enough these field were additional reseted).

I solved this as follows:

1) Assure that the APPEND CI_EKPODB contains only CHAR-Fields (very important!!!) If not, the standard behaviour of posting has errors (deep down) but continues, without setting any "useful" messages. We faced that header was changed (CI_EKKODB with CHAR only) but items were not changed (CI_EKKODB contained also fields <> CHAR)

2) Often forgotten, there must be also the structure CI_EKPPODBX created, that the BAPI, BADI ( or what ever ) can mark the field to be changed...

Go into SE11, display structure MEPOITEMX and search for CIEKPO_DBX. Double click to create and fill the same field as in CI_EKPODB

Type is BAPIUPDATE

.INCLUDE 1 Type CI_EKPODBX
ZZ_KTMNG 1 Type BAPIUPDATE
ZZ_KTMNG_MEINS 1 Type BAPIUPDATE

After that,  generate all, and (in my case) all worked as expected.

Adding my vote to mass update of custom fields.

This would be a huge help and save countless man hours.

The mass edit of Tasks works great in the List view.  If custom fields could be edited after selecting a group of tasks, that would be easy to use in the List view. I envision selecting a group of tasks and changing one custom field to have the same value, text or list choice selected for all the tasks.

Or in the Table View being able to type into the custom field or when it's a list change the selection, especially if you can select a number of tasks to mass edit and Copy/Paste function.

Adding my vote to this thread.  Custom Fields are so great for reports, but having to edit the 50+ tasks I have per project disincentivizes the use of the custom fields and decreases the utility of Wrike for my team in general.  Thanks for listening

It is absolutely necessary to be able to 'mass edit' based on a custom field. It increases usability and flexibility for custom fields exponentially. 

Especially needed while in Table view! I'd like to just be able to drag downwards on everything that applies like excel.

PLEASE please add this feature. Its ridiculous to have to export to excel to copy and paste into fields. Every time you have to do something like this you lose what ever efficiency you gained by signing up to wrike in the first place. 

This would be SUCH a time saver.  Please make this happen.  I'm retro-adding dropdown custom fields to optimize reporting and it's taking forever in the current state.  UPVOTE!👍

I agree. We should have the ability to make mass edits on custom columns / fields.

I vote this up as well (either mass editing of custom fields - or ability to copy from one row to many in table view). Custom fields are not as useful otherwise. 🙏

Please make this happen!!! Would save us so much time, we have thousands of projects yearly and if we decide to retro add fields to help us report, it takes us weeks of updating custom fields. Its painful... really painful... Make it stop!!!!!! 😫

I can't believe this function is missing! Amazing! So, can anyone confirm, the best way to mass update tasks' custom fields is to View in the Table view and click down the column one by one? Many thanks.
