Timelog Reports: one click report: how much time did I book today
I’m missing a solution to create a "day" report on time log entries:
Filter something like:
- Project folder
- just for me and
- today
And this report needs to saved and I can request it quick and easy whenever I need it.
I simply want to see on one click how much time I spend for which task/project
As I said in other posts... time entry is a great feature but there is a lot of space for optimization!
@wriketeam Any workaround? :-)
Hi Jörn! Do these tasks span across several days, or are they one-day tasks? Tasks which span multiple days will show the time spent on them in total, and not per day. Thank you for bringing up this use case! If the tasks are scheduled for one day, a view to help track this data can be set up in Reports. Here's how:
Hi Anastasia,
what I'm looking for is a view on tasks that may span across seceral days but I want to know how much time I logged into any taks but just for this day.
So for example:
I have a top folder "customer" with related subprojects. Now during the day I need to know how much time I spend on any of these 15 and more subprojects.
So my preferred option would be a filter on time spent for just the current day.
Your idea is good but not what I'm looking for as my "filter" is different.
We have so many reports and dashboards, but the time log feature should be improved soon.
Jörn, thank you for the detailed description! You're right, for this use case the best option is the Timelog View, where the filtering criteria isn't saved. I can definitely understand how being able to save it would make the reporting process quicker, and I've added this idea to the Timelog feedback you submitted earlier.
Table view doesn't filter actually when timelog tasks are tracked.
Sometimes we're not tracking time to a task we're assigned to.
Need a way to access the actual timelog filters in Table, Dashboards and Reports
Hi Courtney! I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about how you wanted to filter tasks on the Table View? It sounds like you might want to see a breakdown of how much time each user tracked on the Table View or Reports instead of on the Timelog View?
Yes, we'd love for the Timelog filters to be available everywhere else as they're a little different.
We have monthly retainers for clients so we would use it to should current month budget hours vs tracked.
This would be great to have available in a dashboard and report as well - current filters are task based instead of when time was entered.
Also, timelog defaults to weekly view - Could we have an option to default to current month?
Hi Courtney, thank you for sharing the additional details! There's an existing feature request which is similar to what you've described, and it would be great if you could add your vote to it as well: Allow clicking on Time Spent cell.
As for setting a different default view - this isn't currently possible, but the topic of filters and settings within the Time Log in general sounds like a great discussion for the Product Feedback section. I'd love to hear what you and other users think about this functionality!
It's a little bit different actually.
We need those timelog filters across tables, dashboards and reports.
That task is about drilling into time from table view
Hi Courtney, sorry for the delay! Thank you for clarifying this, I can see how this is a bit different, and it's definitely a great new idea for the Feedback section.
@Anastasia
I was looking for something very similar to what Jorn mentioned above. We used to use Basecamp and I had a widget (10 oz. Time Tracker) that let me immediately see my time spent on any project with a running total for the day right on the bottom. This allowed me to look at my time at the end of the day and see if I may have forgotten to log something (or if I had been lazy that day).
I can achieve this now by doing a Timelog for all projects filtered for me and then limiting it to today's date. That is a lot of clicks, and if there are any projects with a timer running, they don't show up.
What I am envisioning is a pre-made Widget in the Dashboard called something like "Day at a Glance" that would let me look at my personal time log across all projects with one click on my dashboard. At the end of the day I can see I have spent 7.5 hours on tasks and the tasks are listed (just like the Timelog looks now).
Then when I open that dashboard widget tomorrow, it will have reset itself at midnight and show me my running total for the current day.
A bonus would be to have an arrow that would let you move back to the previous day.
@Roger, thank you for writing this up, this is great! I personally love widgets, and I can see how useful that would be. I wanted to let @everyone know that this thread has a lot of fantastic ideas, and though it was started in the "How To" section, I feel that the perfect place for it is our new Product Feedback topic. This will help us keep track of votes and requests in one place, as well as learn more about the Community's ideas and thoughts on this :)
Thanks, I reposted it there.
@Roger, sorry for the confusion - I moved this whole post to the Product Feedback section, so the discussion can be continued in this thread (but it's great that you shared the idea about widgets as a separate post)!
