👉 By automating milestone creations, we could create a custom task type "Milestone", which gets converted to an actual "Wrike milestone" once created. The creator would only need to add a date afterwards (could be pre-populated with the date of today if necessary).
💡 I'm thinking about the automation constructor, but of course, alternatives are possible, like checking a box directly during the creation of a custom item.
🤓 Why is a custom Item type "Milestone" handy?
- It is more visual in a List due to the custom icon;
- You can directly attach a custom workflow specifically for milestones to it;
- For new users it might be more intuitive to create a new "milestone" task instead of first creating a task and then converting it to a milestone;
- You can specify which task types you want to have linked to your milestone, which helps in translating project processes of the company into Wrike.
😢 Without auto-conversion, there is the disadvantage that you have 2 "milestone" types in the account and where only one is actually recognized by the backend of Wrike. Since we, for example, have no "OR" relationships in filters, we cannot combine the custom milestones with the Wrike milestones in one report or dashboard widget.
