Folder Properties
Hi - Is there a way to have different info provided when you click on a folder vs having the same attributes/custom fields as a project? Instead of having to click through and find out who exactly it is shared with - actually put the information there or keep it in the list view with those attributes at the top.
All of our custom fields are indicative of projects/tasks vs any info to do with our folder structure. Is there any way to change this? Almost have folder info similar to Spaces where it is more informational of what you will find within the folder.
This can totally be me and our team but wondering who out there has either a suggestion or idea on how to adjust...
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for your post 🙂
I'm sorry if I misunderstood, but Custom Fields can be visible on folders' info panels, although folders have fewer attributes than projects. Or is your suggestion about adding more attributes to folders?
Waiting for your reply and sorry if I got this completely wrong.

Hi Lisa,
Thank you for replying, not so much the attributes and/or custom fields which makes me think I am describing this off base a bit. I was wondering if when we click on a folder if there was a different view that it shows to denote that its a folder almost striping it of all the fields/attributes - or possibly only having attributes that are for folders? Who knows our team might be the only odd ducks who find this a bit cumbersome when trying to move through things quickly. 🐥
Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Elizabeth
Hey Elizabeth,
There's only one folder panel at the moment. As I understand now (sorry if I misunderstood again), you'd like the folder panels to show fewer attributes, like for example Custom Fields?
I was wondering how you are using Folders now that you have Spaces? If the info on folders seems extensive and you wouldn't like to see it, maybe you could create a Space for projects and add the Custom Fields directly to them?
Please let me know what you think and sorry again if I misunderstood!

Hi Lisa,
I think you and I are on the same page now 😃!!
I was hoping there was a different panel view for folders so it isn't so similar to how the project pannel/attributes.
Regarding folders vs spaces: We are using the spaces more as an overarching (large bucket if you will) for our client groups since they don't need to worry about what other areas are working on. If there is cross-work then I tag from there. As far as folders those are used more for types of work and mimic how we save & archive our projects to help keep clarity on the type of project.
To the point - of how spaces have a different panel view than projects/folders is there any talk of bringing a different panel view to folders so all 3 are different?
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for getting back to me!
I'm glad I completely understand what you're saying now, thank you for clarification 🙌 I have to say that I haven't heard of any changes regarding folder panels, so I think it might be useful to create a separate Product Feedback post for this - that forum is the place where Community members can upvote ideas, and once they reach 60 votes, we add a Product Status there. Or I can move this thread to that section; please let me know which way is more convenient!
I was also wondering - is this issue with the fact that it is not immediately clear whether it is a project or a folder that you've opened in Wrike?
Thanks!

Hi Lisa,
If you could move the thread that would be great, this way if there is any confusion people are able to see the conversation.
Regarding immediate or not - it does take a quick min to figure out if its a folder or project that's where my question originated from. Given a few seconds of maneuvering a few things then I am able to realize which one I am in. My concern is as we add more people to Wrike from the Business side they will not be able to distinguish quickly and possibly start to panic before I have had a chance to talk with them.
Thank you for your help!
Hi Elizabeth,
The whole thread is in the Product Feedback forum now 🙂
One more thing I wanted to ask: do these icons help to identify a project?
This is basically the same clipboard icon that shows that this is a project and used to distinguish them from folders in Wrike.

Hi Lisa, thanks for moving that over.
They do but not when I am rushing around or bouncing in and out of things. I was hoping for more of a glaring attribute preferably at the folder - maybe there can be denoted attributes in the panel to give info regarding that folder its self? Who knows I might be the only person or one of a select few that this would help out. We use folders to keep larger initiatives together that would have many projects gathered together for easier visibility/accessibility.
Like I said we might be the only ones or one of very few.
Thanks for all the help! 😄
Elizabeth, you are very welcome 🙂
I totally understand, so it's good to have this conversation here in the Product Feedback forum - other members can upvote your suggestion. This is actually how our Product team assesses the popularity of suggested features. So your feedback will be passed over to the team for sure 🙌
