Reusable module for forms
I would LOVE to have the ability to create a module that could be used on several forms. Our specific situation is that we use accounting codes on all our projects, we have multiple forms that require them, and new codes get added to our list all the time. I would love to just have the list exist as a module and, if we update the list, it automatically gets updated on all forms.
Hey Mike,
There is some of this functionality already. If you create a dropdown custom field, you can link questions in forms to the custom field and it will automatically use the values from the custom field in your request form. When you update the list of values on the custom field, you can touch each form to update the list of values on the form. The limitations is that it has to go into a custom field, you can't select multiple values, and you have to touch each form that uses it to update the values (but you just have to click an update values button and not add the values to each list in each form).
Would that setup work for what you need? I realize it's not perfect, but it does keep a central authority on the list.
Hi Joshua - thank you for the reply. I created a custom field (dropdown) on a random project and I can see that it is available now for folders, other projects, tasks, etc. However I can't seem to make it available in forms. It's greyed out and non-selectable. Am I missing something simple?
Hi Mike, both the custom field and the question on the form have to be of type dropdown. If you're looking at the form and custom fields at the same time in separate tabs, you will have to refresh the form editor page to have it recognize the new field.
Hi Joshua - I believe I have that. Here is a screenshot of the dropdown I created. And I have refreshed everything but it's still greyed out when I try to add it to a form.
Hi Mike, One last thing to check. It will pull available custom fields from the folder the requests are being sent to. Did you create this custom field on the folder listed at the top right of the form editor or one of its parents?
Okay, you're correct, that was the problem! thank you. Still a little bit of a hassle that I need to update every form when I update the list. Thanks again!
I'm happy to hear you got it working!
I completely agree that it's a hassle. Maybe we can still get Wrike to improve how these work together.
