I want many tasks to show up in a dashboard, and rather than select each custom field value I would love to be able to select a custom field value for the project that could be applied to its tasks, or to mass select tasks and assign them a custom field value.

Changing custom field values isn't currently an option in the "Mass Edit" feature, but it definitely should be! I suggested the addition of more options when mass editing in another post. If you think this would be of great value to the community, you can upvote my post here: https://help.wrike.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360014637793-More-Mass-Edit-Options
In the meantime, the quickest workaround would probably be updating the tasks in the table view. That way, you can update them row by row without having to navigate to the task itself. The Export/Import feature could also be useful here, but I don't know enough about it to say for sure.

We use custom fields heavily and editing every row is a giant pain and horribly resource inefficient. Really need a mass edit option please :-)
