Creating Tasks Directly from Dashboards
I last posted on this 12/22/17, and haven't seen any comments on it - perhaps someone else already has a thread going, but I can't find it.
Using dashboards is one of the most appealing features in Wrike, in my opinion. But it's very frustrating to not be able to right-click and create a context-appropriate task in a dashboard widget. Choosing 'New Task' in the top left simply launches a non-contextual new task window.
Presently, the workaround is to open the widget in List View, then add a task from there - which will put it in the proper folder/project, but will not provide the correct workflow status to put it in the right widget - that's still a manual process.
So - to summarize, the request would simply be the ability to right-click in a dashboard widget and quickly/efficiently create a contextually-appropriate task.
That's a really cool request, Alan! I agree that dashboards are one of the best features of Wrike. I never considered this functionality but it would definitely be useful. Very creative thinking!
Some of the best advice I've received from Wrike is to have users 'live' in dashboards as much as possible - so the more we can do to keep them there, the better!

If I'm looking at a dashboard I have to have another tab open to create tasks. I'd also like this feature.

Love this concept. I've often found myself wanting to create tasks from the dashboard view. Gives you A LOT of options in terms of how you want to filter and task from.
Hey everyone, thank you for all of your suggestions here! It's been passed on to the Product team.
I don't have an update for you at the moment, but as soon as I do, I'll be sure to let you know.
A big +1 for me! :)
Thank you for sharing your input here, Louis-Félix Cauchon! No changes here at the moment - I'll keep you posted if there are any updates.
I am a new Wrike user, and just set up my primary dashboard. This is something that I would find VERY helpful, and I am unsure why it is not a feature yet. Please enable this option!
Welcome to the Community Mitchell McGlinn, and thank you for bumping this older thread!
It's not currently possible to create new tasks right within a widget, but this feedback has been passed to our Product team. It would be great if you could upvote (= "like") the original post above if you haven't yet - that helps our team correctly estimate the interest for different suggestions in the Community, and when there are 60 upvotes here, we will add a status 👍

This would be an awesome new feature! Our team works out of dashboard view as we review our daily activities.. would be so nice to quickly add a task under a specific project/task/subtask, etc right from the dashboard!
Hi Philip Burtt, apologies for the late reply here, but it's now possible to add new items to table dashboard widgets in the New Dashboards 🙂

Hi Lisa I was going to create a new post about this, but thought this might be a better place?
I see where to add a new item in the Table Dashboard widget, but it doesn't allow any types other than the default task.
Is there a way to have other item types be available in this list? Also despite what it says, there is no way to search for items.
Thanks,
Russ

Hi Rohan V thanks for the info. What I found was, if the Data source is set to 'Entire Account', that is when the item selection doesn't show anything. It makes sense, because it doesn't have a specific location to save the item. This is unfortunate though for the for my situation, because the dashboard I created is used by the entire account, so I can't select a specific Location. It would be nice if instead of not allowing the item selection, it showed the list of account item types and asked were the location should be.
Hi Russell Sprague 👋 Thanks for getting back to us with such a detailed explanation and your feedback. I will pass this on to the relevant team to investigate. I'll let you know if we make any progress in the future.
