Folllowing List for Post: Apply custom field to just folders

I feel your grief! I have a blueprint for project tasks in a folder with custom fields. When it gets added to a project all of the other custom fields in the parent are then shown in the project. This makes no sense. As an example, the fields that are hardwired into the blueprint are: task responsibility, task label, phase, step, function, effective date, and signatories. As soon as the blueprint is added to a project, all of the fields disappear and irrelevant custom fields are added: accounts receivable, job partner etc. None of these relate to the project plan and all it does is create frustration among users who have to then try to reset the folder and the appropriate fields. The consequence is that IT has now organized a presentation by Asanna :(

I would also like to request that there is an option for the custom fields to apply to ONLY FOLDERS, or possibly a setting to STOP the waterfall of the custom fields appearance from folder to sub projects/tasks?
Thank you.
Hi Colleen Schmidt, welcome to the Community. Your feedback has been noted; at the moment the closest option would be to apply custom fields only to projects, however, I understand this is not exactly what you are looking for.
If you apply the custom field to projects only, it shouldn't be possible to use it at the task level (child item of the project).
Also, I'd like to mention that you can check our New to Community forum to discover all the resources you can find in our Community 🙂
Please, let us know if you have any other questions.
