Turn off "assigned task" notification in the inbox

I manage a team, and I'm being "notified" that I've been assigned tasks ALL DAY LONG. This is a bunch of white noise. IMO this feature should be optional. I only want @mentions so that I can easily jump on things that need my immediate attention, rather than scrolling through 50+ notifications daily.

I agree, I am in the same situation.  The inbox should have the same config options as emails.

Russell Sprague I agree with you that the inbox should have the same config options as emails as well! It would make it so much easier to identify what I really need to pay attention to vs. what's currently jamming up my inbox.

100% agree.  This is a must have for any PMO. Users need to control the ability at a project, folder, workflow, task level, or individual update level.  Turning it on or off in various scenarios (as decided by the user/sender) both manually and automated. Without the ability to turn it off, it drives workaround behavior:

  1. Building a schedule, refining it and manipulating it, only to wait until the very last step before adding resources. For example, we have executives who have tasks assigned to them, but they will never need or want an email notification. Instead, we will collect updates from them in forums and emails, and we as the project team will update their tasks accordingly.
  2. Or worse, not using the assignee column at all and instead using a custom field to populate resource names in a text field.
