Set Parent Folder/Location View to Cascade Down to Child Projects/Folders

With the new Table view rolling out soon and the List view sunsetting, it is incredibly high maintenance to adjust the table view every single time a new project is created (e.g., moving columns, hiding custom fields that are not needed, etc.). One example is that I do not need to see project level details in the table view (since we have project level information view ) when going into projects to see all the tasks that make up the project. Is there a way to set a parent level view so it automatically cascades down to the child projects/folders? The copy view option still requires a very manual and intentional action and it's impossible to know when new projects are created to do that copy view feature every single time when I consistently have 15 folks are so creating new projects.

Kerri Loh if you create projects from a blueprint, a lot of the view settings can be done in the blueprint so at least your starting from a set up you want.

Russell Sprague Yes, that's been done at the blueprint levels and it still does not retain the baseline views unfortunately.

Hey Kerri Loh! 🙋🏻‍♀️

While the current system does not allow for a parent-level view to automatically cascade down to child projects or folders, but as suggested by Russell, what you are looking for can be achieved by using Blueprints.

If you have a fixed set of child projects or folders, you can set up the views for them in the Blueprint. If the child projects vary, you can also create some placeholder projects/folders with the required view.

Nonetheless, I have forwarded your feedback to the product team. Please let me know if any of the above suggestions would make this easier. If not, feel free to share more details. 😊
