Automation - Assign Custom Item Type when new item is created in a folder or project

Hi,

When you add a task to a specific folder or board (or project), automatically change the item type to a predetermined item type.  For example, we have a new request board where we want to track certain metrics for new requests.  The custom item type has those fields visible but it's very inconvenient to have to go in and change every single new request task that is added to the board.

Thanks!

Beau

Hi Beau Daum!

Our team uses a Request Form for all new requests, and this allows us to specify a "Replace Task" function based on the answer to certain questions.

As you can see below, we can specify at the answer level the 'Custom Item Type' we want to change the task to (i.e Issue, Report Request, etc.).

Hopefully this provides an insight into an alternative to automation rules

This was so helpful Jess Cuddy! Thank you! We looked for it earlier but didn't realize "Replace" would do what we were looking for. Maybe it should be called "Change" instead, as that's the nomenclature used throughout the rest of Wrike.

Thank you for sharing the workaround your team uses, Jess; it will surely help others. 👏🏻 I'll pass on your feedback about the nomenclature to the team, Madison. 🤝
