Use Project Custom Fields when filtering for Tasks

On Calendars, Reports, and Dashboards, I would like to be able to filter the tasks that are shown based on a value in a custom field of their parent project.  

For example, I have custom fields on the Project:

• Department (e.g. Marketing, Sales)
• Project Type (e.g. Email, Campaign, Social Media, Product Renovation). 

I would like the ability to pull a task into a report / dashboard / calendar if its parent project field Project Type = Email or if the Project field Department = Marketing.

I have seen numerous product feedback posts asking for the ability to cascade values from Project fields down to Task fields.  (Looks like the latest update says that feature will not be pursued.  😟)  But, having the ability to filter tasks based on the value in the Project may address at least some of those use cases as well.
