2 Factor Authentication

I began using Wrike as an Enterprise account user. At that time I set up 2 factor authentication on my user using Google Authenticator.

I created a separate Wrike free account attached to the same email address and later left the company. I continue to use the free Wrike account.

I recently got a new phone and while attempting to set up 2 factor authentication on the new phone I found that free accounts do not have access to 2 factor auth.

How can I confirm that 2 factor auth is no longer in place on my account? And if so, what can I do, seeing as my old phone will soon not be available to me with my 2 factor setup.

Hi Matthew, this is a great question actually! Since free accounts don't have 2FA included in the package, you won't be asked for the code at any point. 2FA will be enabled again if you upgrade your personal account to Enterprise, and if that happens, just shoot us a message and we'll be happy to sort this out with the Support Team :) Hope this helps! Let me know if there's anything else I can help answer 🙂

I'm the Wrike administrator for my company and I've recently raised this issue with our account manager. H informed me that Wrike only offers 2FA on Enterprise accounts. I can't understand the motivation behind this maligned policy. Basic security is a right of every user and by not offering 2FA on every single account, Wrike is effectively saying they don't care about security. I can't think of a single product anywhere which charges users to login securely. I strongly urge Wrike to reconsider their position on this.

@Craig Hi, welcome to the Community and thank you for sharing your feedback!

Each user in Wrike has a unique account with a verified email address, and protected with a password, which are validated against password policies and stored securely using a strong hashing algorithm with unique salt for every password. 2-Factor Authentication is available as an additional security measure to protect Wrike accounts, available for Enterprise subscriptions. What an incredibly bizarre and stupid policy. You force wrike users to set a password but don't offer 2FA except on an enterprise plan. Are you trying to drive away potential customers. 2FA should be available for every plan. I won't even look at wrike whilst there is no 2FA. Why would you make users set a password who join via google. ?

We have been using Wrike for several years and pay a hefty price for the service for the small business we are. Given all the recent lapses in security in various software services, we are reviewing the services that we use and may have to eliminate those that do not offer 2FA. I agree that this should be a basic feature of Wrike, especially for any organization that has a paid plan. Perhaps it will take a breach and lawsuits for Wrike to see the fallacy of their policy? I sincerely hope that our data is transitioned off the platform before it comes to that if Wrike doesn’t do more to protect it’s paying and loyal users.
