Lock attachment editing

I read that the document editor should lock an attachment if one user has it open for editing. However, mine locks only for a few minutes, and then the document is unlocked and creates multiple versions if opened by a second user (the user who saves their version last overrides the other). The other is saved in the stream, but this is easily missed. Is there a reason for this? Is there a way to manually lock editing on an attachment?

Hi Laura, thanks for your post and welcome to the Community! Any other user who opens the same attachment for editing can force-unlock it by clicking the lock icon that appears. Can you check if other users are seeing this lock icon when they open an attachment when it's being edited by another user? If they're not, I can open a support ticket and take a closer look for you.
 
Multiple versions of the attachment should be available in the same Wrike task, not only the Activity Stream. If you click on the one attachment you should see the multiple versions there - see the screenshot below where you have ver.1, ver.2 ver.3.
