Inbox doesn't have all tasks in it

HI,

While I'm out and about, I'll quickly dump tasks into the mobile app on Wrike. Not much context, just the tasks and "done".

I'd expect these tasks to show up in my inbox for planning and prioritising on the desktop... Where do they disappear to?

Now I have to remember the tasks that I've added and go find them... It's a disaster. Why wouldn't new tasks appear in the My Work inbox?

Bug or feature?

Hi Craig: Are you assigning those to yourself?  We had the same issue and learned that the tasks need to be assigned and ideally with a due date. That might help.

Thanks Patricia, no -- I haven't been assigning them to myself. It'd be a shame if I had to do that, as it's a few extra clicks on data entry, and then I need to re-assign some to others.

But thanks for the work-around! It's appreciated, and I guess that's what I'll have to do.

Hopefully the brains trust at Wrike HQ can think through this (common?!) type of behaviour and typical GTD-style inbox management.

Hi Craig:  I always take the stance, if it bothers you and your team...stay on top of these folks. Good luck!

Hi Craig and Patricia! Great discussion here :) @Craig, could you please let me know which app you're using (iOS or Android), and where you're creating the tasks from? Tasks created from the My Work section (on both platforms) are automatically added to the corresponding section of My Work, both on mobile and in the desktop version, and they're automatically assigned to you too. Would this method help?

Hi Anastasia,

This is with the iOS app.

It's an acceptable workaround, but not that great. I want to remember that it'd be good to send a gift to a client; but it's not my task, it's for the marketing/client happiness team. I don't really want it assigned to me at any point. I don't want 5 extra clicks when the brainwave hits during a meal, for example. I just want to get the task into the system.

What I would expect is that there's a triage point for all data points that are coming in... that's what an inbox is 'meant' to be in most productivity systems. I think it's not so much a purely technical issue as a theoretical one: in Wrike we have all these semi-overlapping concepts around what a thing is meant to do.

Craig, thanks for following up, this was helpful! I think that a good place to triage those tasks would be the updated version of My Work (can be enabled in Wrike Labs). It includes sections called "All My Tasks" and "Created by Me", so any task you quickly create from your mobile app will show up there. Whenever you want to take care of these tasks, you can just open one of these sections to assign and schedule the tasks, as well as add any additional details. Thank you once more for taking the time to share your feedback and info about your processes, I really appreciate it!
