Adding a new task as a dependency

It would be great if there was a function where a user could create a task from within another task as a dependency (not a sub-task). So when the user clicks on "Add Dependency" they would not just have the option to link to en existing task but also to create a new task.

Hi Kewscha, welcome to the Community! :) Just to make sure I got that right: are you referring to something like the current way of adding subtasks, where you can either link or create one?

Agreed, this would make adding dependencies much easier. Currently, to create a new dependent task from an existing task it's a five step process: you must exit the existing task, create the new task, go back to the original task, click add dependency, and then search for the new task that you just created. I've found that in my organization this is a barrier to getting people to use dependencies. Why not just allow a new dependent task to be created from the add dependency dialogue if no existing task is found?
