Hi all, once you've commented here requesting to be added to the beta test, we raised a ticket so that the Support team could assist with including your account to the beta program. You'll receive an email confirmation of this. Any questions, let me know.

Hi, Can I please be added to the beta test.

We are looking to moving our internal weekly meetings to the wrike meetings system but the current recurring tasks clutters everyone's task list way too much.

Hello! I've been using the beta test since it started. Overall - the reoccurrence feature for tasks is great and we use it consistently.

Here is what I don't understand (perhaps I have not learned to use this feature in all its capabilities)

    1. The assignees receive so many emails for a task - whether it is to notify of up-coming task(s) or to notify that the task has been edited (this can happen several times in a day if the task is closed and then re-opened to make additional edits). Also - the task itself sometimes duplicates itself, thus the assignee(s) are having to manage more than one task occurrence for the same task/same day. I have witnessed a task assigned 3 times for same person/same day. I am the administrator and I look for any errors that I may have inadvertently created, but the duplicates seem to be so many!

    2. The administrator (myself) is unable to look into scheduled reoccurrences that happen in the future. I can see what the assignee(s) sees, but no further. I'm wondering why the administrator is not able to view reoccurrences that have been scheduled out more than the current dates. The administrator may need to view the future tasks as a list itself. My suggestion for this is to have another selection on the task digest that includes "due this month" or "due this quarter".

Please respond if at all possible, as this inability to view future assigned tasks is becoming a point of frustration.   Thanks so much!!

@Pamela, thanks for writing in about this! I checked in with the team and we want to investigate this a bit further, the triple duplication doesn't sound right. I'm going to create a Support ticket for you right now and our team will be in touch shortly!

Are there any forecasts when this feature can be implemented in production ?

It's horrible that this feature is implementing so long. I use recurrent task as described by author in the Todoist many years and its probably one of the main obstacle to finally to go to Wrike.

If any new tester can help do it faster then I'd like to be added to the beta test also 🙂

How can I set the recurring feature to recur on my calendar only instead of having a list of task for the whole year on my task list?

On this note, I have synchronized my google calendar with wrike.

Dima X, I hope you were added to beta program and it has solved your issue. We are working to provide backwards compatibility with older mechanism right now and we are planning to release the new mechanism to all users as soon as it is done.

Rebecca, If I understood you correctly, you need a recurring event on your calendar, not in Wrike (as Wrike operates with Tasks, not calendar events) - maybe you could create a recurring event in Google Calendar?

please please please-please-please please bring back the ability to set the start date in the past.  PLEASE!  It's killing us. Where is the thinking there?  ...and while you're at 'fixing the thinking' people need to be able to TYPE dates in (seriously that is just best practice).  Date pickers are slow, cumbersome and the one you've used is particularly bad.  We love wrike, we love the support team.... this whole fall over with recurrent tasks is frustrating to the point of deal breaker.

Hi Cate, we'll raise your point with the Product Team. It would be really helpful to know the situation where setting the start date in the past is necessary?

@Stephanie  Sure!  So.  Recurrent TASKS - this is not about project management for us but ongoing engagement ops and delivery.  So let's say, you need to get something done once every second month on the 10th - today is the 20th - but you still need to get this months 'thing' done AND set a recurrent task for it to happen in the future.

Previously you set up the task, date it the 10th and recurred it every 2 x monthly starting on the 10th (10 days ago)  Your team then complete the thing that was due 10 days ago, AND they do that next 'thing' on the 10th the month after next happy days, it recurred in the 4 different control folders effectively and was formatted perfectly, hyperlinks included.  cool beans.

Currently you have to set up the task, duplicate it, FIX the multiple folder thing by jumping through a few screens, then recur the task, figure out what future date it has to start on so it recurs correctly which, could key the date keyed would be less an issue but the date picker we're forced to use is truly atrocious.  Then you have to check you recurrent the correct task and that the tasks are all in the correct folders and you did actually get the start date correct.

(I just know that one of the Dev team saw that datepicker and thought 'it looked cool' - that person should be forced to sit and complete 50 recurrent tasks that started last week and have them recurred to at least two different folders it in 5 minutes.)

OR  You have a 'thing' that needs to be completed quarterly, and that ting has to be completed for 3 prior quarters in retrospect, and each instance of that thing has to be completed separately (yes - gotta love a compliance environment) - we need to be able to report on when that thing occurred and when it was completed.  So in this example we now need to duplicate the thing 3 times to get the back dated tasks into the system.

I could go on, and none of these examples can't be achieved manually, but, we now have to jump through hoops to get it done and we already run skinny margins which we're trying to model for scale.  Every second counts to us, and duplicating tasks, particularly as you can't duplicate them to multiple folders (where is the thinking there while we're at it) is just too many clicks.

The biggest frustration is all the F@%K'ff AMAZING features, that are falling over 10 seconds from the finish line.

In this case, I can't see a possible downside of allowing recurrent tasks 'start' in the past, to bring workflows and task outlines up to date and push out into the future.  Even it if's just a DAY in the past the whole thing can't work and requires the set up of TWO tasks and the determination of a future date which isn't always as simple as it sounds and even if it were, is another margin for user error.

There is no work around for this, I can't have a task instance start today (Thursday), and then recur every Monday from now on I have to set up two tasks.  grrrrrfrustration!  😜 I am intending to help here - sorry I've gotten a bit ranty!

Hi Cait, that's plenty of detail (perfect, thank you!) and I can see the reasons for wanting this clearer now! I can't tell you how much it helps to have concrete use case information like this to share with the team. We'll update our Product Team about this thread and go over all the details that you've included.

It seems that recurrent tasks should be able to exist in the root folder.

If not, why should any task be allowed to exist in root?

It forces us to put recurrent tasks in outside the root where other related tasks are sitting in root.

Use case:  In order to assist the development teams and product managers, I would like to offer the following real-world example of how recurring tasks would be used.  I hope to make it clear some of the needed features.

Example:  An elevator needs inspection once a month.  The appointment must be made 6 weeks in advance.  Therefore recurrent tasks are overlapping. The assignee needs to begin to "work" on the second occurrence before the first occurrence is complete.

When displayed they need to be distinct in the listing of tasks.

    Hope this helps.

This is the one thing that makes Wrike hard for us. We aren't able to include recurring tasks without them taking over our dashboards. How can I monitor recurring daily tasks if the tasks are overwhelming to the team? It's rough. Please fix this soon!

Hi everyone, the team just released updated recurrent tasks for everyone! If you go in to create a recurrent task you'll see the updated functionality. You can read more on Anton's post. Anton says this in his post, but we couldn't have done this without all of your help and feedback. Thank you!

Hi, why is there no option to defer the creation of a new task until the preceding task is completed? This means I have to find and cancel missed frequently recurring (e.g. daily and every other day) tasks or delete the new ones. For example, I went on holiday and came back to a dashboard full of repeated instances of my daily recurring tasks! Plus my recurring tasks are scattered throughout my projects and folders; is there a way to easily search for them?
