Caution dialog box when marking a task complete that has open subtasks
We have had a couple of instances where users marked the primary task complete and did not mark the subtasks complete. The subtasks then were displayed in the table view and that later created some confusion. To avoid this confusion
When marking a primary task complete with open subtasks, have a dialog box opened to ask them if this is their intention.
Brilliant!!!
Or have an option to not allow the parent task to be completed if the subtasks are not complete?
@Darrell and @Megan, thanks for sharing your thoughts about this! There are a lot of conversations revolving around subtasks right now, and it's great to hear all of these ideas. While this isn't something we're working on right now, I had a few suggestions which could potentially make it easier to manage subtask and parent task statuses right now:
I'd love to hear what you think about this, as well as how other users manage such tasks!
I like the idea. You could add three buttons to choose: IGNORE SUB-TASKS / COMPLETE SUB-TASKS / CANCEL
@Martin, thank you for your input here!
I think Martin has a great idea with the 3 options regarding tasks. It would be great if by closing the parent task that it completes the sub-tasks as well.
Just enable option where you will have the dependency available or not by clicking the box in setting. For me this is must have as there is no logic that if you have sub-task unfinished that you can actually finish the master task.
