[Status: Launched 🚀] Code formatting in task descriptions and comments

@pedro yeah, I wonder how long they spend researching this... as the initial research phase for code formatting finished in May (after two years) and we haven't heard anything. Meanwhile, "important" feature like a skin are being developed. Good that Asana is adding more features, our renewal date is coming soon and I think we'll need to re-evaluate.

How do you decide what needs to be worked on?

This feature is such a fundamental missing and important feature!!  that you all should be ashamed that there is even other work besides this feature! i would love to talk to a product manager to even justify the skin work above this!!!!

you need to be able to make good documentation, good feedback and now it is simply not working

you are working on something good, please do not drop the ball and lose all customers in the end because you are focusing on the small wins.

but focus on the important tasks like this one!

If this does not get fixed soon I really need to move on to another platform. (and trust me more will then follow) i think i represend at least 50+ seats

I want to add my vote too. The lack of support for markdown or basic HTML tags in comments is a major deficiency in Wrike compared to other platforms. It's especially a problem when using the API to add automated comments which include hyperlinks. Please try to implement this soon as I think that for my company this could be a deciding factor when we come to choose between continuing to use Wrike after the end of our pilot study, or switch to another tool instead.

Yeah I'm not really sure how you guys are ignoring the second most requested feature for your platform and prioritizing "skins".

Decided not to use Wrike a year ago because this feature was missing. This request is from JANUARY 2017, but still there's not even an ETA :(

When this is implemented the comment length limit of 1000 characters also needs to be removed. It will be no good to able to use markdown to put things like blocks of code into a comment if we are still limited to 1000 characters per comment.

It looks like they have already updated the max comment length. I just did a test and was able to add a comments up to 20,000 characters.

Kyle, you're right about longer comments now being supported! Thanks for pointing that out, I might not have noticed it otherwise. That change must have been made within the last couple of months. I'm already taking advantage of it within my automation.

About pinned posts: I think they should appear also in the correct place in the timeline and not just pinned to the top. This means they are breaking the sequence of conversation and may be missed by a recurring visitor.

I think this is basic functionality which is should be supported by task tracker (and such feature easy to implement). Please, give us such ability to format code

I see between August 28th, 2018 and September 7th, 2018 the title of this task changed. It now has a "[Coming Soon...🕑]" prefix. 

Could someone from Wrike chime in on what this means? Or if anyone know if there's a legend somewhere. 

I bet you they'll say something at the conference in a month!

@all - I just wanted to clarify the status we've applied here to the title. You can check what the feedback section's Statuses mean here. I don't have an exact date on this right now, however, the team have undertaken this large project and are expecting to have this released before the end of the year.

As Alex said earlier on this thread, it's not something we can implement quickly, however, the team is working on it and getting closer to a release. I'll be back here with updates as I have them.

Looks like when the feature is in development it will change to '[In the making  🔧]' status.

But i hope its not only comment formatting, but also on the description field this formatting is also not usable other then basic text.
and that we also talk about industry standard formatting with things as code snippets etc.

can someone from wrike post the definition of the new feature if its only limited to the comment fields?

Hi, in case it wasn't included expressly, I'd really like to see the markup options, in particular @mentions, available in the worklog.  We moved over from Jira after massive deliberation, and one of the best features in Jira was the ability to differentiate between commenting on a task in general, and adding comments to time logged on a task.  In particular, @mention to a teammate on a comment in a logged piece of work, not just the general task.  This way if you get stuck while working, you can flag up that particular point in the task when that happened, especially if this is a task that is planned for a longer amount of time to complete, say several hours or a few days.  With this functionality the full feature set of what Jira had would be replicated in Wrike, giving us another area where Wrike would be superior to our needs, which was the reason for our move in the first place!  Thanks!

The announcement says you have added comment formatting to the roadmap. Any announcements on whether formatting of descriptions is considered which is the main request of this thread? As with custom field deletion, this needs an overhaul to the architecture to add markdown or some other means to format text? I don't need this much, but when I do, it's annoying not to have it.
