[Status: Launched! ๐] Sort Comments by Newest at the top
Can we have the newest comments on projects and tasks be at the top of the list of comments? This allows me to see at a glance the latest comment instead of having to scroll to the bottom of the list.
Thanks.
Anna - thinking you are "hearing" something VERY different than what we are saying. THE ORDER is the problem. CHANGE THE ORDER and ALLOW for SCROLLING with NO BUTTONS.ย
I would also like to chime into this topic.
ย
For me I think there are 2 possible solutions where making the comments scrollings DESC instead of ASC isn't (in my case) the biggest feature request.
1st solution is to turn around the sorting (not my preferred solution)
2nd Solution which I prefer a lot more and somewhere in the topic it was somewhat touched, (although in some other way to describe it)
1. Show in any way possible that you have 'unread' comments in a task to project to folder (badge on the (sub)task in the list / table), badge on the project, badge on the folder)(or flags if aย badge with the count is too difficult)
2. When opening a task put your current comment view on the last comment read with a big blue line marked : NEW or UNREAD (if any)
3. possibly have a button to go to unread
4. Mark a comment readย when passing to te next comment or reaching the end of the comments for the task.
In this way it makes way more sense on low or high activity tasks that you can see that there are new/unread comments and in this way it actually makes more sense to keep them sorted as they are today.
@Anna G
Thank you for taking the time to reply to us. I think the easiest solution would be to give either the users or the administratorsย the ability to change the order of all the comments in the settings.ย
Alternatively, you could add an option to sort the comments on each task like you already do for attachments. There are typically many more comments then there are attachments, so I think it makes sense to sort the comments too.
Hi Anna, as a company going through the trial version and considering a full transition to Wrike from Trello, this is a big one for us, so I just wanted to add to the comments here. It could be a deal killer for a lot of the people on our team who are so used to the newest comments first feature in Trello, and aside from being used to it, I echo a lot of the points that have already been made in this thread. We would REALLY love at least the option of having an admin only feature allowing us the choice to display comments newest first. Thanks, and hope to hear soon on a solution to this one.ย
Reading the comments from users versus the comments from Wrike in this thread,ย this is starting to feel like an exercise in futility. There appears to be a nearly unanimous user consensus that enabling a choice to sort comments from either newest to oldest or oldest to newest would be a big benefit. Yet Wrike won't commit to doing this and won't explain why, or is proposing changes that don't satisfy anyone. Why is this so hard? How many more requestsย will it take toย get this onย the roadmap?ย ย ๐
Agree with Scott.ย Anna'sย reply seemed like she didn't understand or maybe even read the functionality request.
It's a good value product but some very small design flaws with the product leave usersย wanting more.
So simple, this can't be more than a 20 hour project - all in, right?
ย
Agree with Scott as well. It's an easy fix that would make a HUGE difference. When we implemented Wrikeย thisย summer, it was the first drawback we discovered. Seeing how popular this thread is, I expected the problem to be solved quickly. The latest answers we got from Wrike are disappointing.
Yes this would be amazing - and maybe we need the same thing for the product feedback area so that the latest comment is shown at the top
@Wrike This topic is coming up to a year old so please do us all a favour, if you're not going to address this, just say so. Otherwise, please provide feedback on people's comments.
Yes! That way when user scrolls down old comments can be loaded automatically. There would be no need to click on SHOW MORE UPDATES any more.
I agree with the newest on top.
ย
Not having the ability to control the sorting of comments is the only major issue that I have had with Wrike in the year that I have been using it.ย This should be very high on the planned enhancements list in my opinion.
I find that I am not using comments because of this limitation - If I knew that my comments would be visible at the top of the list when another user was viewing the task form, I would be much more likely to use them.
I'll put my $.02 in as well.ย This is one of THE MOST FRUSTRATING parts of wrike: having to spend time searching for actionable information.ย I came from Toodledo a few years ago.ย This was one of the first disappointments we had in our transition. It's all about the effort that goes into a task.ย The more clicks, the more scrolling, the more wasted time and effortt, and even strain on wrists!ย One mainย point of making software user interfaces efficient is to reduce the clicks and scrolls.ย
Whenย I click on a task,ย I expect to see the most relevant information thatย I need to see, without having to scroll or click.ย Title, date, folder, assigns, unread comments.ย So for me,ย I also want desperately to have the ability to sort comments in reverse chronological order, newest to oldest.ย If they stay as they are, then jump me to the first unread (by me) comment.ย No need to give me a button, as the navigational keys on my keyboard take me to the top, bottom, and page up and down.
Wrike, IMHO, tends to over complicate many things, instead of giving us one solid workflow.ย Streamlined production is necessary.ย Direct me to the most useful information first.ย Always.ย It is not useful to keep dumping me into a task in a place to view thingsย I have already read before, with the need to search for new material.
How about this as another solution: you can notify a slack channel anytime a task has a new comment.ย Why not put those in our wrike inbox also, as a choice?ย Heck, you ย have the choice for me to get an email if someone comments on a taskย I follow.ย Why not ping my inbox in real time?ย And then send me to the comment whenย I click on it?
I have got an answer and it is a polite no despite all you guys requesting the same feature. What does it take? Does everyone have to start looking for competing applications?ย I know I have I don'tย wont to be left behind on the Titanic, this starts when companies stop listening and start giving good PR on a critical issue.
Can anybody suggest alternates? PM me.

Anton from Wrike Support here to follow up while my colleague is away. I apologize for the delayed reply.ย
I have notified our Community team about your request for an update on the subject discussed in this community post: "Sort Comments by Newest at the top". However, I should note that there is no ETA we could provide you with at this point. The suggestionย you voted for sounds clear to me, but it requires rebuilding the whole set up of the key Activity Stream feature.ย Such a change is not on the roadmap currently. This does not mean that this will not be revised in the future. Your feedback is important to us and we aim to make Wrike better with the help of this feedback even if not every suggestion gets implemented right away. I'm sure you understand.
Please feel free to add up to the conversation on the Community or via email in reply to this ticket thread. We're happy to be of any help. I hope that Wrike will serve your team well in the upcoming new year 2018. Our support team is here to help in case any problems or questions come up.ย
Wishing you a great Holiday Season!ย
Best regards!

Daniel,
Well said!

It would be very effective and save time. Being able to flip the comment section. Reading the newest comments first. Thank you.
Must have this feature! +1
I agree, a must haveย :-)
As someone who was considering moving the whole company to wrike, i downloaded the trial and within minutes i found that the comments section was backwards. i went to a buddy of mine who had been using wrike for a while and checked the comments on some of his jobs and sure enough, the first comment when you open the project page is like 8 months old.ย
We work in construction and I can tell you right now that guys are not going to use @mentions or click email links or understand website structures. They have to be able to open the app, look at the main page and see the latest, most relevant info without scrolling.ย
All of the other features are great. If it is honestly that difficult to add a "sort comments from new to old" option (the same like the attachments) why can't you just make the page auto-scroll to the bottom of the comments section when you open the project page? this would be a good temporary workaround.
Alternatively, you could also keep the existing order of the comments and just add a frame to the comment section that only shows the most recent 5 or 6 comments, and a scroll bar to scroll up to the older ones. this seems like a fix that would only take a few days to implement.ย
I would like to know what your dev team is working on that they are too busy to address this critical feature.ย
For an example of how a professional looking interface works, take this example from Discord. the newest comments are also on the bottom of the page, the same as Wrike, However when i open the page, I am not greeted with comments from a year ago, I am placed in a location on the thread with my oldest unread message. once I scroll to the end of those messages, the next time i open the page it puts me at the most recent comment, right where I left off. I do not have to scroll through a year's worth of messages every time.
It is clear to me that since this thread is over a year old and there is no plan to correct this issue that wrike is not the platform i am going to choose. mainly because this issue is a deal breaker but also because it shows that the dev team doesn't care. it's sad because i like everything else about it.
This would make so much more sense! :)
ย
We haveย resorted to recording all of our "comments" in the project description box by manually adding the date and the comment to the top of the screen as such:
ย
1/24/18
Asking Wrike toย fix this issue.
1/23/18
Wondering why Wrike has the comments feature upside down.
ย
Clearly, this is extremely inefficient and frustrating. Our company uses the free version and I'm in favor of upgrading and I brought it up to the management team and it was immediately shot down because of the comments section dilemma. So Wrike you can mark this as another sale lost. As mentioned previously, this feature needs to mimic email and text message.ย
I think I know why they haven't fixed this issue; they are using wrike to manage their forum so all of our comments are populating the bottom of their list and they keep forgetting to scroll down to see the new ones!
Please re-consider adding this to the site enhancements for this year.
Can't believe this is not a sort option
ย
Thank you
Anne
@Wrike Is there a reason that on:
Wrike Help Portal > Community > Product Feedback
You Sort by Newest Post?
ย
I would like to see a user chime in who prefers the comments the way they are now, and give a reason why.
Just adding my vote to the list!ย Having the option to order the list would be extremely useful to me.
Must be added!ย
ย
Agreed! please update ๐
Any update on this enhancement?ย While at it, we should apply the same logic to these Product Feedback Feeds.ย Or at least have the option to sort ascending or descending.

I believe technically this is not difficult to do.ย So come on Wrike sort this request out.ย Doesn't look good that there are comments going back two years on this subject.
