Known Email Address How To Find User?

Is there a way in the API to find a user based off of a given email address? Right now I'm calling https://www.wrike.com/api/v4/contacts and then going over all the entries until I find the entry with the right email. This seems like a slow way to do things. Basically, I'd like to get the ID of that user based off the email address. Seems like a simple thing to do, but uncertain how.
