We're beyond thrilled to announce that the ability to convert tasks to projects and vice versa is now available to customers starting from Business Plus plan and higher! 🔥 This feature is the most upvoted Community idea ever, with over 600 votes, and we're so excited to deliver it to you!

Converting Tasks to Projects & Vice Versa
✍️ Here's how the conversion works:
You can convert items using the Change Item Type option, located in the three-dot menu of the item. This allows you to convert any item type (task, project, or folder-based) to any different type. When you initiate the conversion, a new item is created in the same location as the original, with your data copied over. The original item is then moved to the recycle bin.
What's Preserved in the Conversion 📌:
Title, status, start and due dates, assignee(s), location, custom field values, description, task-based subitems, attachments, and sharing settings.
What's Not Preserved 📌:
Item history and comments, approvals, tracked time, dependencies, recurrences, effort, item ID.
Here are some more things you need to know:
- The new conversion logic is always accessible from the Item View's context menu "Change item type."
- Task-based subitems attached to a task-based item (subtask) cannot be converted into a project-based type.
- A project or folder with subprojects or subfolders cannot be converted into task-based types.
- The conversion (changing item type between task-based and project-based types) cannot be undone.
- Mass-converting items is not possible.

Here in Dec/Jan and still not seeing this feature. But I'm a caveman...
Hey Dan Spacher, I see the option on my end and tested it both ways and it works! Just make sure it's not nested inside another object like a task or folder (it'll give you an error/warning so you'll know). Open a task or project, click the 3-dot icon in the top right and select "Change item type". You should be able to convert to any custom item type too! Hope this works for you. 🤞
Lisa Is there any chance Wrike will work on an option to convert Project to Task and preserve the original Comments? (Item history and comments). This is the main thing that is preventing us from using this feature.
