User Name (ID): hack to get groups in stead of user names in filter?

Hi!

Does anyone have advice on how to use groups instead of the user name (ID) in the filter?

I've divided all employees into departments and also into groups based on employee type; FTE, Students, and Interns, in order to structure our data depending on what we're interested in looking at.

I'd therefore like to be able to add all three employee groups within a department group to an analyze board and once in use, be able to filter on each employee type, but also see them all together.

For instance - this board:

Utilization & performance

Based on:
Users in Department 1
Users in FTE
Users in Students
Users in Interns

Once in use I'd like to be able to simply mark FTE as the user filter (maybe as all names are visible right now), but right now I need to "remove" all individuals who don't match the employee type I'm interested in.

Any hacks out there? 🤖

Help and advice is greatly appreciated🔥

Pietro Poli

Yes, of course!

This is the current board, but I'd like to add more team members in other groups as well.
I've also attached the groups I've divided all team members into based on how we would like to be able to filter.

In stead of having names in the User Name (ID) in the top right corner, I'd prefer to be able to simply have different groups listed so we filter based on that in stead of having to click on/off on each individual :)

Let me know if the screenshots can be more specific! You help is much appreciated 🙏

Hi Maria Hermansen,
first of all you can create a table widget that contains UserName. Then make sure that all widget you've in the board has this option flagged "widget affects dashboard filters"

so when you select a field in a single widget all widgets being filtered.

You can do the same with Job Role but not with Users Groups.
If you create a table widget that list all job roles, when you select a specific job role all other widget being filtered too, and in table where you have assignee or user you'll see only the names of people that have this specific job role.

Hope it helps.
