[From Wrike] Rollups in New Table View ✍️

Hi everyone 👋
As you know, Wrike Lightspeed is making its way to all accounts, and this also means we're transitioning from the Old Table view to an upgraded New Table view.
The New Table view boosts your experience by new and enhanced functionality with improved loading times for large folders, introducing a side panel for easy navigation, and offering a fields menu for personalized views, just to name a few. It also supports mass actions for efficient item management and includes clickable links in text fields for enhanced usability and convenience.
With this, we're also changing from Aggregation to Automatic Calculations from Subitems, also known as Rollups in the Old Table view.
Aggregation and Rollup - What’s the Difference? 🤓
Aggregation 📌
This feature in the Old Table view provided a quick summary of data but didn't write this data to the database, limiting its use for formulas, reports, and so on. Given these limitations, we're phasing out Aggregation in the New Table view.
Automatic Calculations from Subitems / Rollups 📌
We're amplifying the Automatic Calculations from Subitems feature, which you may remember as Rollup from the Old Table view. This feature auto-calculates (SUMs/AVGs) a field rolled up from sub-items and writes these calculations to the database for more robust functionality.
What’s Next? ⏭️
We're improving this new interface with features like Automatic Calculations for formula fields, and inclusion of system fields in these calculations, as well as introducing a Range-Based Calculation Feature. These enhancements aim to make your user experience even better.
During the change from Old to New Table view, all your Automatic Calculations from Subitems will be kept, but Aggregations won't. We've decided not to auto-convert Aggregations to Automatic Calculations to avoid any risk of data loss. This might mean you'll need to manually set up some Automatic Calculations in the New Table view, but we believe the improved functionality will make it worthwhile.
In short, when migrating from Old Table view to New Table view:
- All existing Rollups will persist
- All existing Aggregations will not because it may overwrite manual data. You may need to update your New Table view with the Rollups, either within key cells or broadly at the column-level.

This is bad news for us.... We use aggregation for effort in the old table view. Using Rollup for is very confusing...
And didn't Wrike promise us that all functionality of the old tables would be present in the new tables... ?

Was the Undo feature intentionally removed from the new Table view or just relocated? If the latter, where/ how do you undo in Lightspeed's table view?
Lisa, I second Karen Reijneveld's comment above. In addition to Effort aggregation to determine team load in the coming development cycle, we also use SUM aggregation to perform annual project budget estimates, initial product sales forecast, tooling costs across all projects, and testing fees across all projects. Not being able to SUM these columns in the New Table view is a huge hinderance. Can you share an alternate method that the SUM aggregations could be achieved?

These are very HUGE problems for us. No longer an undo action? No aggregations? What a disappointment in diminished feature functionality with no apparent alternatives. Without the ability to rollup effort at the task level, we used aggregations. Now without the ability to do either, what are we supposed to do to view rolled up effort? And the new table view is definitely not faster--it's majorly sluggish compared to the old view when trying to perform actions in the table view esp. when developing a project plan which adds time to the end user to complete the same tasks.

+1 for aggregation as well. Thanks to the Wrike team for enabling old tables in labs as their functionality is still critical to our business operations. Not much more I can say that hasn't already been said but I will share our use case for full transparency.
We utilize parent tasks as containers to organize subtasks by departments within folders and projects (depending on if a project needs to inherit rate card values or not) and to house critical reference material necessary for the completion of subtasks, rather than re-populating each subtask within it with repetitive data. Those subtasks also contain the effort value related to the work being executed.
E.g. subtasks for design re a website
Not seeing the purpose of writing an aggregate value to the database when all it is doing is duplicating a value that is already present via the subtasks. And the parent tasks are not actionable, so have no reason to contain an effort value as no time will be spent against it directly. The aggregation functionality allowed for an inconsequential (in terms of impacting total value of tasks in a folder or project) reference point.

Aggregations of custom field values, according to the filters of the moment, is crucial for us. We even export for excel and interchange the macros from other datas. Please arrange a invert a feature was running and people use it. Doesn't make sense to take out a feature, without alternatives.

We've just started trying out the new table view, and noticed that without Aggregations there is no way to sum Time Spent for Folders and Sub-Tasks within a project (we can only roll up the Time Spent at the project level). We are able to do this with Aggregations in the Old Table view.
This is absolutely critical functionality for us, as we need to be able to reconcile time spent at all levels of a project against our estimates (tracked in a custom field).
Can you advise if this functionality will be added in to the new table views?

At the moment, as you mentioned, the feature works at the project level, and therefore the workaround would be to include the relevant tasks to a project.

Just wanted to add my support to all of the above concerns, I echo many of the use cases and needs for the features that the new table view is removing. It is clunky and more difficult to work with. I love Wrike's continued innovation but removing functionality that has been working solidly for years and that many of us rely on, doesn't make sense. Please continue to keep the old table view available until features can be duplicated in the new table view.
Hey all -- adding my support to the need or aggregate values, in addition to roll-up values. Specifically, aggregate, by being a temporary value, allows a user to aggregate the content present on the table itself, especially the filters that are applied to the table. For our team, we have a very common need that requires both the Roll-Up and Aggregate.
When reviewing projects as a whole, we have our team manually add the Roll Up of all Time Spent, and the Aggregate of Effort for all "Active" tasks that are remaining in order to get an estimate of the total time for the project once complete. Roll-up would always count all tasks, and what we need to obtain is the value of Effort only for the tasks that are remaining --- applying a filter to the table view and using Aggregate does that exactly, so removing Aggregate removes some necessary functionality, with no other way to obtain 'total active effort' for a project

+1 on the aggregate values! Not having this (we can't see the Rollup functionality or a way to do the SUM for the individual tasks and subtasks within a project) is enough for us to leave Wrike unfortunately.
I echo all the sentiments above - taking away the rollup functionality is a major step backward for us. We use that at a project level every day. Now after hunting for days, and entering a support ticket, discovering it was deliberately removed is frustrating. Please bring this back Wrike! Why oh why would you remove it when so many customers use it and rely on it? :(

This is very bad news indeed. We were using the feature as a core part of our business intelligence where we need to see the aggregation of multiple columns simultaneously in order to measure project progress. This function was a core reason that we chose Wrike. Removing it like this without notice is a very serious problem for us. Can you let us know please a timeline on which this will be resolved.

Sorry Juan - this just doesn't seem to be an adequate response. We were relying on this function for our business. This is causing severe disruptions and I urgently need an ETA for any changes

Lisa @... It is interesting that some fields will rollup at the parent folder, but not all. I've found that "number" and "calculated currency" type fields will roll-up at the parent folder, but not "duration" or manually entered "currency" type fields such as: Effort, Time Spent, and calculated fields of duration type. Can the product team add the ability to SUM duration and "currency" fields just like calculated currency and number fields? This seems like it would be a quick adjustment that could satisfy a lot of the request on this thread.
In the screen shot below, I have the ability to SUM the first 3 columns at the parent folder, but not the last column which is the same data type as the first column ($). Columns 2 and 3 are (#) and I'm just showing that you can choose to SUM or not for that type.
These is one issue with this method, and it SUMs all projects contained in the parent folder. If I filter my list, it still SUMs everything, even if it is not part of the filtered list.

Hi Juan - unfortunately the support team sent one email and then declared the case closed - I emailed back on 3rd November to ask for the case to be reopened but have heard nothing back so sadly I am not getting any assitance. Could you please ask someone to be in touch or to reopen the case please?
