[Status: Launched! 🚀] Applying Filters to Projects in the table view.

Our company needs the ability to filter PROJECTS (NOT TASKS) based on custom fields in the table view.

The motivation behind this being so that we can generate sums based on all jobs that fit the filters.

As we cannot generate sums in reports, but it can be done in the table view, we need to be able to filter projects and then find a sum of one of the columns in the projects that fill the filter criteria.

I figure the ability to filter by projects is one that a lot of other users may want.

Cheers, Monty

Monty, thank you for sharing your feedback here! Am I understanding correctly that the main reason Reports are inconvenient in this particular case is that aggregation isn't available? If that's the case, I wanted to mention that there's a request for this on the Community too, and I thought you might be interested in adding your vote there: Possibility to See Summary of Custom Fields in Reports.

Hi! The original request would be extremely helpful.

The reports is fine for filtering, but you can't modify the information in the Report, so it adds work for the users. Any updates on if this will be an update made?

@Nicole Hey, happy to see you on the Community 🙂

You can add more filters when viewing projects in the Table View

and then choose the Custom Fields as filters

Please let me know if that's what you are looking to do 🙌

hi @Lisa. All of those filters are at the TASK level though correct? You cannot filter at the project level? Which is my objective.

Hi - I have the same question; can you filter by project data - not by task?

Hey guys, thanks for reaching out!

I've misunderstood, thank you for clarifying. You're right, you cannot filter by Project data. I'd suggest posting the idea in the Product Feedback section for others to upvote, or I can move this thread to that section. Please let me know what you think!

This request would also be very helpful to have in the Gant Chart. Currently, it seems like it not possible to filter on project level - only on tasks. Please let me know if there is something I am missing out on.

Another vote for being able to filter and sort at the project level. I was very surprised to see this feature absent. I need to be able to keep dozens of projects organized by various fields and currently I'm having to export tables to Excel to do this. Any update on this?  Thanks!

Has there been any update on filtering at the project level? I work mostly in table view and I can not find a way to filter out my completed projects. I am only able to filter out completed tasks. It's cumbersome to see multiple completed projects cluttering up my active lists. Is there a work-around for this? Thank you.

Hi Hugh, are there any plans to include filter by project completed date?

Hi Rob, hope you don't mind me jumping in for Hugh here!

For now there's no option to filter by project completed date  - I'll let you know when we have an update on that. You can use the project's finish date for filtering though. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi! I'm very glad to be able to filter by project custom fields in Table view, but I'm missing the ability to mass-edit a group of projects based on a filter, like I can with filtered tasks in List view. I'd like to mass edit a custom field based on the value in another field quickly using filter to select my projects for mass edit. Any chance this might be possible soon?

Hey Ryan Miller! Glad to hear that you're happy to hear about filtering by project custom fields in Table view. I'll pass on the feedback to the Product team.

I'd recommend creating a thread in the Product Feedback section of the Community to discuss your suggestion. This way, other users will be able to vote for it and provide their own feedback too 😊

Love this new feature.  Why is it relegated to the Table view and not Lists?  I'd love it in lists as well.  Can you direct me to an existing thread that I can upvote?  Otherwise, I can create a new one.  Thanks!

Hello Andrew Boekestein, I'm glad to hear that you like the new feature!

Thank you for your feedback on adding this to the List View.

There is no existing thread for the List View, so if you don't mind please create one 😊
